The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) is an Indian job guarantee scheme, enacted by legislation on August 25, 2005. The scheme provides a legal guarantee for one hundred days of employment in every financial year to adult members of any rural household willing to do public work-related unskilled manual work at the statutory minimum wage of 120 (US$2.43) per day in 2009 prices. The Central government outlay for scheme is 40,000 crore (US$8.11 billion) in FY 2010-11

Gram -Panchayat will issue a Job Card after registration . Job card containing the details of adult members of household such as ; Names ,age ,address and photographs. Registration will be made for five years and may be renewed from time to time.
