In the spirit of reconciliation let us acknowledge our relationship
with the Indigenous people of this land.
We acknowledge that we are gathering for worship
on the traditional lands of the First Nations and the homeland of the Metis.
We are all Treaty people bound by the understandings made between our ancestors
and the original peoples in the agreement known as Treaty Six.
Welcome to worship todaywhere will seek the companionship
of the Holy One.We desire to come freely, to set aside our burdens
and all that ‘weighs down’ our lives.Might we be liberated to make love and peace
the dominant chords of life.
Giver of the perfect gift of life on this planet,we come with grateful hearts for the adventure of living.
Help us to put our life in perspective, balancing our daily needs with a broader view
of what it means to be human, to live in community,
and to open to holy mystery.Nudge us during this hour
along the path that Jesus walked. Amen.

Sometimes we worry that too much of our timeis spent obtaining, consuming
and holding tightly to the ‘things’ that we have.Might we be saved from a life narrowedby a focus only on what we can possess. Forgive our clinging to material thingsas though they were the purpose of life.
Might we embrace a new vision of ourselvesas people open to abundant love
and ready to renew our commitment to those things that matter most:
meaningful relationships, inner peace, and justice for everyone.
Amen.

Mark 12:38 – 44 As he taught, he said,
“Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and to be greeted
with respect in the marketplaces, 39and to have the best seats
in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets! 40They devour widows’ houses and for the sake of appearance
say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”
41He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd
putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums.
42A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins,
which are worth a penny.43Then he called his disciples
and said to them,
“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those
who are contributing to the treasury. 44For all of them have contributed
out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty
has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

There is before us, an invitation to come
with all that is your flesh and blood, and to share it with your God.
We accept this invitation, remembering God's gift to us in Christ
and its meaning for our lives today. This is how life is - broken, imperfect.
But you can live from this, and you can give it to your neighbour,
and your neighbour can experience the nourishment you've received.
We remember now the one called Emmanuel, God with us, Who because he was broken for us, lives.
We accept this precious gift.Living is the spilling out of life.
It is in freely and knowingly pouring forth ourselves that others can live.We remember now the humanity of Christ,
Who poured forth his whole being so that we might live.
It is through this deep and abiding mystery that we come now before you O God.
Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts,
that all who share in this loaf and cupmay be the body of Christ:
justice, life and love in the world,we pray. Amen.

your kingdom come, your will be done
on earth as in heaven.Give us today our daily bread
Forgive us our sins.As we forgive
those who sin against us.Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil, for the kingdom, the power
