Transcript of November 2015 Daisy Promisegirlscouttroop11710.weebly.com/uploads/8/1/8/3/81837118/daisy...petal...
Every girl and adult who is a member of Girl Scouting or Guiding throughout the world
makes a Promise. The words may be slightly different from country to country but the
spirit and meaning of the words are the same wherever Girl Scouting or Guiding exists.
Girl Scout Daisies have a special recognition called the Promise Center, a small blue patch
that Daisies receive when they are able to say the Girl Scout Promise and tell what it means
to them. The Promise Center will be the center of the girls Learning Petals, which our
Daisies will start earning once they have the Center patch earned this month.
Please practice reciting the Girl Scout Promise and Law with your Daisy (it is always posted
on the second page of this newsletter). This month we will also be learning hand signals to
help the girls remember the Law. The following short YouTube video shows these hand
signals and also has some examples of what each piece of the law means and help them
understand why living the Girl Scout law is important in their every day:

In addition to our Girl Scout meetings, we will be practicing the Girl Scout Law through
outings, service projects, and learning activities. The calendar on page 2 lists dates and
activities scheduled thus far. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please pass them along.

Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden
This Daisy Girl Scout journey workbook will be an optional
enhancement to our Daisies’ Girl Scout Journey this year. Each
month, each Daisy who chooses to participate will complete a
chapter of the workbook at home with family. We will discuss
briefly at the troop meeting, and make note of Daisy progress.
Daisies who complete the Journey workbook will earn an
additional patch set for their vest. This is an earned award for the
Daisy Scout, not a fun patch.
If your Daisy will be participating in this additional activity, please
send her workbook (labeled with her name on the outside) to the
November meeting, and each monthly meeting after. A leader
will review initial her book for progress each month.
Please welcome Ami Harbert (Riley’s mom) as another new Leader of our troop. Please reach out to Jennifer or Ami
with any questions you may have
As a reminder, all girls should have the following with them at the November meeting: Uniform vest with base insignia,
petal pack (not attached to vest), and dues, as well as the new meeting permission form
If your Daisy did not turn in dues for the October meeting, please send with the November meeting dues (or pay for the
entire year if desired). Dues are $5 per month or $40 for entire year. If your daisy's dues are not paid your daisy will not
be able to participate. Dues help fund crafts, outings and other troop needs.
Each girl will now have a Daisy Folder provided to them at the November meeting that will be used to send information,
permission slips, home activities, patches, etc. back and forth on meeting days. Please make sure to review any
information sent home with your Daisy and send back the folder and any completed forms and dues back every
meeting.
We are making a few changes to Troop Meeting Mondays. Firstly due to the time it takes to walk to the HFC, get settled
and have snack, we are extending all Daisy meeting time to end at 4:15 to ensure the girls have enough time to do their
activities. Also, the girls will now gathered immediately after school directly outside the Kindergarten classrooms and a
troop leader will escort them to the Holy Family Center. Parents may pick up the girls at 4:15 from the Holy Family
Center or can be escorted back to the Extended Day Program and checked in. All girls must have a completed Daisy
Meeting Permission form completed and turned into a leader prior to the meeting or will not be able to attend
We have confirmed dates for the November and December outings. Please see separate flyers and permission slips in
your Daisy’s folder. We encourage Daisy's to attend all meetings and outings. Parents are always welcome.
We are looking to host a fundraiser very soon to earn money to be used toward outings and special activities. More
information will be provided as soon as known. Also, if you have any ideas, please share
