Return of The REDHEAD EXPRESS

On Saturday October 29 we were treated to a brief stopover of our friends The REDHEAD

EXPRESS They were in the area so they did a little show to a absolutely packed house here at

Triple Creek As you know we have adopted them and we are their Texas home Wersquore very

fortunate that they stop in here from time to time for a visit This visit was even more special

because they attracted even more local Bluegrass musicians that we havenrsquot known before

If you thought this visit was great wait until they return for a full show in February in Jasper

Radio has often been considered one of the most personal forms of media It brings the business to the people

right in the comfort of their very own homes

Karan is not talking on KWUD radio every Friday morning around 900 am Wersquore trying to get the word out

about all the good things going on at Triple Creek amp the existence of Bluegrass music

Karen talks about the specific instrumentation and how Bluegrass is has a distinguishing characteristic of

featuring two three or four parts harmony Unlike mainstream country music bluegrass is traditionally played on

acoustic stringed instruments The fiddle five-string banjo guitar mandolin and upright bass are often joined by

the resonator guitar (also referred to as a Dobro) and harmonica

LET IT RAIN

Many of you have asked about the boat that is ―docked

here at Triple Creek Well as many of us have aged we like

to be prepared for all events Therefore this baby is gassed

up and ready to go once the fall rains finally hit here

No the real story is that ―Tug Boat Joe is getting some

work done to his trailer Once repaired his boat will no

longer be dry docked

ITS GOING TO RAIN

Forgive our mess When it does start raining around

here we want to be prepared Wersquore currently trying

to get the drainage fixed around here Several areas

are washing out so wersquore putting in culverts and

installing concrete areas to fix this for the future

Next time it rains donrsquot think it strange when you

see several of us will be out there looking to see

where all the water comes from and goes to Wersquore

just trying to identify what needs to be done

WHEN IT DOES RAIN

If you havenrsquot seen this project going on Royce is

building little Lynda a patio behind their house Lynda

is supervising Royce on a hour by hour basis but even

with all this supervision Royce is able to make pro-

gress

As you can see when this is finished Lynda is going to

have a screened in porch to watch the world from Irsquom

assuming that wersquoll soon be invited over for the open

house celebration

Ms Audrey (in the pink) puts together this country breakfast

every time she knows a crowd is arsquo cominrsquo Biscuits amp

gravy eggs sausage bacon grits potatoes and plenty of

coffee and juice She also serves home made jellies and

jams

Ms Audrey asks that you support her cooking habit with

APPLE COOK_OFF

Here is a picture of the offerings that were all made by our local

chefs for the competition in October We sampled and we sam-

pled until there was nothing left This is one crowd pleasing event

that not only drew a lot of entries but also a significant amount of

judges As always this proves to be a VERY popular event every

year

This years top award went to Ms Audrey with her Apple Ice-

cream Second place went to Ms Pat with her apple crumb cake

As we all know Ms Pat has been the winner for several consecu-

tive years now Dudley and Marc found that by combining the

ice-cream with the apple crumb cake we can enter that next year

and come out the winner We know that will be the ultimate winning combination

Wild Pigs

Yes we do have wild pigs around here

This is a picture taken just outside the

park at one of the deer feeders Our

own Gary Hudson has lined the pigs up

and shot two of them with one bullet

We BBQ then are really enjoy these

dudes that show up all season long

These wild hogs are very lean unlike

their domestic cousins

Ingredients 3 cups All-purpose Flour

3 teaspoons Baking Powder

1 teaspoon Salt

frac14 cups Sugar

frac14 cups Pickled Jalapenos Chopped

1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese

12 ounces fluid Beer (one Can)

12 cups Melted Butter

1-2 tbs taco seasoning for just that touch of flavor

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Measure and then sift the flour baking powder sugar and salt into a mixing bowl Add the chopped jalapenos and cheddar cheese Pour one can of beer into the mixing bowl and mix until blended Pour mixture into a greased loaf pan Pour melted butter over mixture Bake one hour or until golden brown Cool for 5-10 minutes Remove from pan and cool an addi-tional 10 minutes Slice and enjoy Self-rising flour may be substituted for all purpose flour Just omit the baking

Jalapeno Cheese Beer Bread

This dish came to the pot luck on November 4th and was an instant hit The cook said she makes it ―artisan

style (no bread pan) She adds the taco seasoning for just the right amount of flavor and cooked it in a cast

iron pot topped with sliced Jalapenorsquos Talk about good

FALL PLANTING TIME

We are getting ready to start plant-

ing trees bushes and shrubs around

the park However we would really

like someone with artistic capability

to provide us with some direction

NEW PICKING SHED

If you havenrsquot seen it wersquore slowly making progress

on the new picking shed The new shed is located

next to Ms Ethylrsquos The erection of new facility will

allow for yet another location for the various groups

to get together and pick prior to their performance on

stage

Since Lynda lives next to this product she is getting

all kinds of ideas of what the finished product should

look like With the likes of Rob Dudley Royce and

Marc working on it wersquore not really sure when wersquore

going to call it ―finished We just know it going to

our little PUG has delivered a little twin We now have

two little PUGrsquos running around the park Bob always

kept one of them very busy so now wersquore really anxious

how hersquos going to drive two of them at the same time

What fun Marc had at work with this costume of his You might

guess it that he won 1st place in the Halloween event Marc

called Karen and told her that his co-workers came up with the

idea of making the droopy ears They made them and then used

tape to attached to his head No surprise that the tape held all

day long
