“The Fifth Gospel”
Rev. Matthew Sturtevant
Scripture:
Isaiah 2:1-5
The Fifth Gospel: Isaiah and Waiting
Sometimes called “the Fifth Gospel,” due to its themes of peace and hope, the book
of Isaiah is filled with images that we often associate with the seasons of Advent and
Christmas. The root of Jesse. The Peaceable Kingdom. Wonderful Counselor and
Prince of Peace. This Advent season, we will explore together the ways that Isaiah
helps us to wait with anticipation for the Christmas celebration. Join us as we to-
gether wait, hope, and worship.

Children Matter!
Wednesday, Nov. 20, was another wonderful opportunity to
share family time together at Children Matter. We shared a multi
-generational, interactive exploration of the 23rd Psalm (above is
a play dough version of the psalm). Together, we prayed, wrote,
drew, traced our hands, and “worshipfully played” with play
dough! I was thankful for a meaningful time to share with our
family and our “extended family.”
