Just to kick off this News le�er – I would like to give a heart felt thank you to everyone

who was responsible in assis�ng with the Organisa�on of the Annual Show at Misty

Meadows this October. It was a really well run event – and a great venue to Show

at. The Judges were both new to the FPSSA and to South Africa – and it was inter-

es�ng to get their take on the quality of horses on Show this year. Thanks to Marlise,

Al�e and Michelle for all of their hard work. It was a first for South Africa in that we

had the Stallion Rounds here in South Africa for the very first �me. This has taken a

lot of hard work and nego�a�on with the KFPS to ensure that they were happy with

the rules and the venue put forward – and ensuring we get the right judges for the

job. Thank you Kate for se.ng this up for us over the past few months.

I s�ll believe that the quality of the horses in South Africa is moving ahead in leaps and bounds – and this was evident in that one of

the Stallions put forward for the Stallion rounds was bred in South Africa. This really is the way we need to be looking for the future

– in breeding our own Stud Book Stallions. Two Stallions made it through to the second round - which is also a great achievement as

you must remember that all of the Stallions were being judged on the same level as they

would be judged in Holland. This is a real achievement – and one to be proud of. Please

make sure you get your Stallions ready for the first and second rounds in October next year

again.

There were also some very interes�ng points bought up at the AGM – and I would like to

thank everyone for their input. Because of the interest shown at the AGM on a variety of

issues – we have had a close look at how we can improve the communica�on to our mem-

bers – and you should no�ce this month that the bulk e-mail and sms system will be intro-

duced which will assist in refining our efforts at ge.ng news through to you. Please just

drop the Office a line in order to update your details – this would help us a lot ! Don’t forget

that we have a fantas�c website with loads of informa�on on it – and you can also follow us

on the Face book page.

There will also be a few changes coming up – which you will be no�fied about – and we real-

ly look forward to more par�cipa�on at the Shows and the Members mee�ngs in the fu-

ture. Please bear in mind that this is a Society for you – so we really need your input in or-

der to improve !

STALLION ROUNDS

This October saw the first Stallion Inspec�on Rounds conducted in South Afri-

ca.

Judges Fetze Veldstra and Lucielle Ellens presided over the judging that took

place in the days leading up to the Na�onal Show.

The first day saw eight horses enter the arena;

Feike M (Norbert 444 Sport), Diewe R (Haitse 425 Sport), Arne fan de Kadyk

(Tsjalke 397), Wietse de Leije (Tsjalke 397), Auke V (Harmen 424) Bearend

(Harmen 424) and SA bred Bart van Doorndraai (Ritse 322).

Of these 8 horses Arne fan de Kadyk (Tsjalke 397) & Diewew R (Haitse 425

Sport) went through to the 2nd round. Sadly neither were asked to the 3rd

round.

This was a spectacular display of young stallions both imported and locally

bred. The stallion round will now be a yearly event with the 1st and 2nd

rounds being conducted at the FPSSA Na�onal Show in Oct and the 3rd

round , dependent on horse qualifying at HOY in Feb of each year.

As proud members of the FPSSA we encourage all our members to use approved stallions for their breeding programme. In the

efforts to improve the breed it is important to make sure that you use the correct stallions for your mare. All the stallions

listed below are available for stud and most of them are able to send semen country wide with in a few hours by air. This

makes access to these stallions semen readily available to most mare owners across the country. Please ensure that the stal-

lion meets the CEM requirement men�oned below.

Please contact the stallion owner of your choice to book your cover for this season.

CEM Tes�ng for Stallions

Please see the a�ached le�er from the Department of

Agriculture. It seems as if the CEM in South Africa is

under control, but we are needing to regain our CEM

Free status. Therefore all the above breeding stallions

must be tested as per the le�er a�ached. As the prob-

lem is under control the stallions are only needing one

test instead of two tests. Please ensure that the re-

sults from this test are sent to the FPSSA office—

office@fpssa.co.za

FPSSA Club

The board has decided to register a club for the organi-

sa�on. The reason for this is to ensure that we can

hold shows that are accredited with SAEF. Also, and

more importantly, the sport classes (being the dres-

sage and U�lity (working) Riding) will now become offi-

cial classes within SAEF.

Please see the le�er a�ached with regard to the FPSSA

Club. Info is also available on our website.

All FPSSA members automa�cally become members of

the FPSSA Club free of charge

The FPSSA would like to encourage all our member to plan their 2015. We hope that the dates and informa�on provid-

ed will help you to plan the year ahead of you.

A few thoughts

• If you don’t want foal over Christmas and New year don’t inseminate from mid—end Jan.

• For foals to be of the perfect age for judging in Feb/March ensure that your foals only start to arrive from October

onwards.

• Plan your breeding with the show you would like to a�end in mind

ANNUAL JUDGING 2015

s�ll during school holidays so please remember to enter before you go away. If we are able to accept late entry a

fee of R 100 per horse will apply.

No Stallion Inspec�on Rounds will be judged at the Annu-

al Judging’s 2015. These will be held once a year in line

with the KFPS at our Na�onal Show in October.

Foalbook stallions must be presented in the above men-

�oned Stallion Inspec�on Rounds at the Na�onal show (Oct). Only stallion

that make it to the 3rd round will be considered for Foalbook breeding per-

mission. No Foalbook stallions can be judged in Feb/March for breeding

permission only renewals of exis�ng breeding permits.

Please come and enjoy the day. We are hoping to encourage anyone interested in driving to come and watch. Or be�er yet,

come and be involved by assis�ng in being hazard marshals. It will be a fun day for all. Refreshments will be served and there

will be a clubhouse open to all.
