Please get those items resolved and avoid unnecessary legal expenses incurred by attorney- generated letters telling you to do something that you already know needs to be done. A large number of yards are really looking bad and need work. Please start the process of rehabilitating them before the hot weather sets in. Many homeowners are complaining about neighbor’s yards not being maintained, so we intend to concentrate on those who refuse to maintain their yards this summer. Bottom line: if you want to live in NC then you MUST maintain your yard! We do not send letters about mildew during the winter months for obvious reasons. Now is also the time to power wash your home, driveway, etc. and get rid of unsightly mildew. It’s not that difficult of a job and hiring someone to do it is also an option. We are all aware of the number of foreclosures around the US during the past few years and we have had a few here in NC. It’s interesting to go on line and see some of the NC homes that are for sale and have gone through foreclosure and then were purchased by investors with the intent of fixing them up for resale. There are some really beautiful homes out there that were in horrible shape at foreclosure. The final result is positive for those of us who reside in NC as these homes sell for a higher value, which is good for all. It’s unfortunate that somebody’s misfortune leads to something positive for the masses but I guess that’s just how it works. It’s also interesting to drive around the subdivision and view some of the homes that are listed for sale. Those with wonderful “curb appeal” are sold very quickly while those that do not look so nice continue to sit on the market for months on end. One would think that realtors would advise homeowners to take steps to improve at least the outward appearance of the homes to get more potential buyers. Who knows! May everyone have a nice pleasant spring! Don Mach, NCCIA President and Legal Liaison ALLEY CONCERNS IN SECTIONS 1, 2 AND 3 We are experiencing some large pot holes in the front section alleys. The HOA does not have a director in the front sections with the time to drive all the alleys and this has been a challenge for a number of years. We depend on residents to report to SCS, our management company, any major alley problems and then we can address the concern and make necessary repairs. With the heavy rains the City of Houston is experiencing major street problems and it seems we are seeing some of the same problems. Residents in sections with alleys, please notify our management company at 281-500-7132 when any major alley problem is noticed and a director will visit the alley quickly. If the problem is major we will put bar- rels up until we can get the repair made. An emergency repair can often be done quickly, but we need to know. A Big ThAnk You!!!On Monday, February 6th, Girl Scout Troop #17282 from Notting-ham Country Elementary School earned merit badges for clean-ing up Rennie Park. They picked up trash, pulled weeds from and around the volleyball court, wiped down all playground equipment with environmentally safe cleaners and planted flowers around the Rennie Park sign.

The NCCIA Board thanks the girls and one of their leaders, Kristi Nicholson, for taking the time to assist in helping Nottingham Country look nice. It’s very much appreciated. Perhaps others will be encouraged to take on such worthwhile projects.

While on the subject of Rennie Park and equipment, the Board was made aware of structural damage on one of the playground pieces. By the time you read this article the repairs should be completed making it once again safe for everyone to enjoy. The volleyball court should also be fully renovated with new nets and all at this time.

Everyone, please do you part in keep-ing Rennie Park clean and safe for everyone to use and enjoy!

“Tube” is Blue Gray Russian Blue neutered male, current immunizations, micro chipped. He’s shy around strangers,

harmless ( a lover not a fighter), and will probably run from you if you approach him. However, if you have a way with cats, you

may be able to sweet talk him into your home. He’s probably hungry and scared. We love and miss our beloved kitty.

Heavy TrasH Day - saTurDay, april 21sT

From 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM, there will be heavy trash pickup in the Nottingham Elementary School (Kingsland and Rennie) back parking lot. This is our spring pickup and another one will not be scheduled until next fall. This is for heavy trash items only. There will be personnel onsite to assist in unloading. Waste oil and other chemicals considered environmentally hazard will not be accepted. This is an excellent time to clean out the garage, etc. and have it hauled off for free. In driving around the subdivision and seeing some of the open garages, it would appear there are a number of homeowners that should seriously consider cleaning out their garages and this would be an excellent time to do so.

This is only for residents of Nottingham Country Sections 1 thru 9.

Foreclosures in nottingham countryThe following is the current inventory of foreclosed homes in NC as of 2/8/12:

ADDRESS OWNER1147 Shillington Deutsche Bank739 Dominion Bank of America20323 Warrington Primeway Credit Union1327 Dominion Central Mortgage702 Cascet Ct Deutsche Bank

Not many foreclosures left in Nottingham Country! We continue to see about two postings per month. That is a very positive trend.

Please be mindful of these vacant homes and try to assist in keep-ing them looking decent from the street if at all possible. If any homeowner is aware of an abandoned home that is not on this list, please contact the Board and we will check into it. Occasion-ally homeowners will leave a home in anticipation of foreclosure.

a thanK you to chamPion ForDNCCIA wishes to thank Mr. Mike Colvin, General Sales Manager for Champion Ford, for his efforts to help us discourage transport drivers from turning around in and/or cutting through our subdi-vision via Windsor Glen. Windsor Glen is the street that dissects Champions Ford lots and leads to Laverton. For many years, drivers have being causing property damage to the homeowners near there when they try turning large transport trucks around. Harris County has now posted No-Truck signs at Windsor Glen at the entrance to Nottingham Country. Additionally, Champion Ford has sent letters to the transport drivers asking for their cooperation by not enter-ing Nottingham Country when turning their trucks around. We are hopefully that this will solve the problems.

Thanks Mr. Colvin for your assistance regarding this matter.

nccia Website rePort - February 2011Thanks to all of you who visited www.nottinghamcountry.org in the past month.

We are continuing to see a lot of activity with our lost pets section on the website. We have a couple dogs running loose that have repeatedly attacked and killed cats in our neighborhood. If you have any information on these animals, please call the Constable’s office or Animal Control if during the week. The participation of our friends and neighbors in Nottingham Country in responding to the Eblasts and going out of their way to report sightings of lost and found pets is rewarding. An increasing number of pets have been reunited with their owners, so it pays off. Thanks to all who help.

If you haven’t visited our website, please go to www.nottingham-country.org and sign-up to get emails (E-Blasts) about Community vents, Lost Pets and Security Issues.

As always, if you would like to offer your comments or suggestions, please email the webmaster directly by sending an email to: [email protected].

The latest happenings in Nottingham Country are posted on the Website first. Items like Heavy Trash Pickup dates, Election Results, Lost Pets and Safety/Security Incidents in our neighborhood are posted on the site. We also have applications and forms posted on the website

CooKs uP houston’s hot suMMer BreaK™ BeneFits annual event

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo today announced the launch of a new summer festival, benefiting the Show and allowing Houstonians an enjoyable, refreshing and entertaining break from the city’s summer heat.

Houston’s Hot Summer Break, July 4-8, 2012, is an all day, five-day music, food, beer, wine and spirits festival, featuring top chefs and mixologists, shopping, and live music. Held completely inside Reliant Center, the summer event includes cooking demonstrations, a beer brewing competition, wine and liquor seminars and the search for Houston’s best cocktail, margarita and martini. Patrons also can explore both floors of Reliant Center to listen and dance to live concerts featuring country, blues and jazz music, along with disc jockeys playing a mix of club music. “We are thrilled to announce the development of Houston’s Hot Summer Break,” said Skip Wagner, president of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. “Houstonians love to celebrate and this festival

offers them a really cool way to do so. We look forward to making it one of the best and most successful events of its kind, offering attendees the ability to get away without going away!”

Another highlight of the event, a restaurant-style café, will allow attendees the opportunity to sit and enjoy creations from several Houston-area restaurants, cafés and diners, including a wine bar and coffee shop. Net proceeds generated from Houston’s Hot Summer Break will di-rectly benefit the mission of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a Section 501(c)(3) char-ity that benefits youth, supports education, and facilitates better agricultural practices through exhibitions and presentation. Since its beginning in 1932, the Show has committed approximately $283 million to the youth of Texas. The 2012 Show runs Feb. 28th - March 18th. From the wicked stepsisters’ hilarious antics to the lovely pas de deux performed by Cinderella and the Prince, the performance is sure to capture the hearts of all. The ballet opens with the sisters fighting over fabric with Cinderella left to pick up the mess. The wicked stepmother orders Cinderella’s father to purchase gowns for the sisters (Skinny and Dumpy) leaving Cinderella home alone. The fairy godmother conjures up fairies representing the four seasons to help Cinderella get dressed for the ball where she and the Prince fall in love. After elves stop time and Cinderella loses one of the glass slippers, the Prince travels the world to find her. Once they are reunited, they marry in an enchanted forest amid waltzing dancers.

ABOUT HRB: The Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), founded by Victoria Vittum and Gilbert Rome, both nationally acclaimed teachers and cho-reographers who served as its co-artistic directors.

Two from KaTy advancing

To ElKs sTaTE Hoop sHooT

One week after the Katy Elks lodge hosted its an-nual free throw “Hoop Shoot,” two of the six win-ners who had advanced to District competition are now on their way to State to vie for the next level contest, Regional. Any who survive these two rounds will be Nationals bound in Springfield, MA this summer.

Macy Ray, winner in the 12-13 girls category and Ben-nett Hanks, 8-9 boys winner, will be representing the Gulf Coast Disrtict in Dallas. This is Bennett’s first trip to State, while Macy will be enjoying her third time there. Last year Macy advanced to National competi-tion where she placed fourth. Katy has always provided strong competition to other Elks Lodges in the “Hoop Shoot” scholarship program.

Rick McCool, along with his wife Shirley, have spear-headed the local “Hoop Shoot” for over 30 years, a number of which Rick has also served as District chair. This will be their final year to direct any “Hoop Shoot” activities since Rick has chosen to “retire.”

Knowing Rick, he will still be available to help but he is turning the local and district chairs over to Dan Tass, along with the help of his wife Gail, to direct the win-ning tradition that has been set by Katy area youth and the Katy Elks Lodge.

The girls honored were: Front Row: Casie Chronister, Rachel Gray, Sarah Pannell and Christy Martin. Second Row: Holly Thompson, Anna Redhair, Katie Crawford, Natalie Peters and Christine Wells. Third Row: Kathryn Jones, Haley Wesbrooks, Shelby Howell, Courtney Moro, Brooke Bretting, Alyssa Peden, Emily Schmidt, Emily Bauman, Elizabeth Neville and Kim Spaulding.
