THE MOST HOLY TRINITY

THE INEXPRESSIBLE MYSTERY

The God of the universe is mysterious. Science has not been able to solve the mystery of how the universe came into being or explain exactly what continues to give it creative energy and masterful design. No religion asserts that it has found words to name fully the ineffable mystery of God, for no matter what name we use, God always transcends our limited ability to

understand. God is a mystery to be believed, not known. And yet, we Christians believe that our name for God best expresses that inexpressible mystery: God is the Most Holy Trinity of three persons united in a communion of love, pouring forth that creative, saving, sanctifying love into the world. Today's scriptures celebrate the mystery of the Trinity and give us clues for living that mystery in our lives.

MINISTRY CONVOCATIONS – ONE MORE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND!

As of today, we have held three of four Ministry Convocations in the Parish Hall, with over 110 participants!

We encourage ALL involved in ministry (not just leaders!) to attend our last convocation scheduled for Saturday morning, June 17. We also welcome anyone who wants to explore more

deeply this path of renewal we are experiencing as individuals and as a faith community. Please visit our website to register today! The Holy Spirit is showering our ministry convocations with enlightenment, receptivity and great hope for our future!

FATHER’S DAY CHOIR

This Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, the Music Ministry is once again offering a unique opportunity to honor your Father: A “Father’s Day Choir” at 10:30am Mass, consisting of Adult Choir

members and ND parishioners (you!) who would like to pay tribute to their fathers, living and deceased, by singing “You Raise Me Up” after Communion. To participate: Contact Jim Keefe to let him know you’re interested:

[email protected] / (973) 538-1358 x. 109.

Attend one rehearsal in our Choir Rm. on Wednesday, June 14, at 7pm. This is the only rehearsal – the success of the tribute rests on all the singers being prepared, so attendance is required!

YOU’RE INVITED TO OUR “GET TO KNOW US” WELCOME GATHERING

For new members of our Parish Family and for those who simply want to know more!

On Sunday, July 2, at 11:30am (after 10:30 Mass), grab a doughnut and coffee in the gathering space, then join our informal gathering in the “Upper Room.” Or stop by and see us before the 12:15 Mass. Either way, it will be a great opportunity for us to get to know you, and to introduce you to our priests, some of our staff, and a few of our parish ministry members. Children are welcome! Questions? Please contact Jean Pankow at (973) 538-1358, ext. 122.

LOVING ATTENTION NEEDED!

If you're someone who loves and appreciates the beauty of our worship space each time you attend a liturgy here at Notre Dame, we could really use your help. Our Altar Linens Ministry - the wonderful, dedicated helpers who ensure our altar linens are laundered and folded each week - is in urgent need of helping hands. Ministers serve on a rotating basis each week so that it does not become burdensome for anyone. If you think you might be able to help, or if you'd like to know more of the specifics, please contact Agnes Loughlin at 973-539-9524 or [email protected].

SHOP FOR FATHER’S DAY AT OUR CHRIST’S CORNER GIFT SHOP!

If you're looking for an inspirational/spiritual gift for Father's Day, we invite you to stop by after Mass to see our selection of mementos, books and greeting cards. We also have a nice selection of gifts for weddings and new babies. While you're shopping, you may want to take a look at our other merchandise, and be sure to check out the Kids' Korner for inexpensive items for children.

SENIOR LUNCHEON REMINDER

Monday, June 19, 2017 following our 12:10pm Mass.

on Monday, September 18!

WE ARE HOSTING A LUNCHEON FOR THE HOMELESS: CAN YOU HELP?

A MISSIONAL CHURCH

A missional church gears absolutely every single part of its life–its worship, community, public discourse and preaching education–for the presence of non-believers from the culture surrounding it.

A missional church’s congregation reflects the demographic make-up of the surrounding community–and therefore it gives non-Christian neighbors attractive and challenging glimpses of what they would look like as Christians.

A missional church’s worship is ‘evangelistic’ in the sense that it makes sense to non-believers in that culture, even while it challenges and shapes people with the gospel.

A missional church’s people are outwardly focused, so involved in the local community, and so alert for every opportunity to point people toward Christ, that evangelism happens naturally through relationships.

Because of the attractiveness of its community, the contextual nature of its message, and humility of its people, a missional church will discover significant numbers of people always in the midst, ‘incubating’ and exploring Christianity. It must welcome them in hundreds of ways. It will do little to make them ‘comfortable’ but will do everything to make its gospel message understandable. – Tim Keller

Can our parish and campus communities become places where people of all sort of "other" cultures: Protestant cultures, agnostic and totally secular cultures, non-Christian religious cultures could incubate and explore the Gospel . . . in the midst of the Church?

— Sherry Weddell (author of Forming Intentional Disciples)

WILL YOU BE REGISTERING YOUR CHILDREN FOR THE 2017-2018 FAITH FORMATION YEAR?

Many of you may be aware that once each month I have been sharing a new vision and mission for our parish at weekend

Masses since last December. In light of the new focus and direction for our parish, we are delighted to announce important changes to our Faith Formation program. These modifications are a first step as we embrace

the new vision of our parish and will impact our elementary, middle and high school levels. Because it is important you are aware of these changes, we will hold 3 parent meetings to give everyone the opportunity to be informed about the new vision and mission of our parish, the changes to our Faith Formation program in terms of goals, content and scheduling, and the reasoning behind them. It will also be an opportunity to share your thoughts and ask questions. The meetings will take place in the parish hall on:

Tuesday, June 20 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25 from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 26 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

The staff and I are excited about sharing our new parish vision with you!

With many blessings, Fr. Paddy, Ivette, and Diane

A MESSAGE FROM THE MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION OF MORRIS COUNTY:

We need your help: air conditioners needed!

With the hot weather quickly approaching we are in great need of new or used window air conditioners (5,000- 8,000 BTUs). Our clients are on medications that can affect body heat which can lead to heat related illnesses. It is
