Prescription for a Troubled Heart

We live in days of great anxiety and trouble. People all around us are dealing with grief, loneliness and stress. If you feel these things, don’t give up! Look to Jesus for help and for

hope.

In John 14, Jesus spent the night before his crucifixion comforting his disciples. We do well to listen to the words of Jesus when we face troubles today. What are we to do when

we feel overwhelmed?

1.  Put your trust in Jesus. Jesus says, “You believe in God, believe also in me.” What are you trusting in? Psalm 118:8

says, “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” The Lord will take care of all of our needs when we

depend on him.

2.  Remember there is a place waiting for us. Jesus tells us that he has gone to prepare a place that is perfect for his

people. One of these days we will be delivered from all of our troubles. We will spend eternity in heaven free from sin, pain,

and sorrows.

3.  Rest in the Lord’s promises. The Lord is always dependable.  Here is a simple list of his promises given in John 14.  Jesus is coming back again (John 14:3), the Holy Spirit has come to the world (John 14:26), and we will have peace that

passes all understanding (John 14:27).

With such promises we can have rest from troubled hearts. Isn’t it great to be a Christian?
