Founded 10 years ago with the ambitious vision of prominent educationists and industry stalwarts, UPES today stands at the cusp of CHANGE. With a decade of concerted effort, hard work and dynamism focused towards achievement of leadership role in establishing academic benchmarks for entry-level professionals in the Energy, Infrastructure and Transportation (EIT) sectors, UPES is ready to evolve again. Having become a distinguished name in development of industry-ready, entry-level professionals employable in core sectors, UPES is now endeavoring to become a pioneer in offering post graduate education in the EIT sectors. The future-ready vision is carried forward with new courses in ‘Hi-Technology’ domains such as Nuclear Energy, Nanotechnology & Robotics. The new ‘School of Design Studies’ with offerings in Industrial Design, Transport Design, Product Design & Interior Design and additions to the ‘College of Law’ (LLM Energy Laws) are testament to the commitment of UPES towards being the harbinger of academic CHANGE it had set out to be at its inception. Needless to say, the movement of CHANGE is backed by enabling campus infrastructure in the form of smart classrooms, innovative outdoor labs, design studios and expansive student residences.
Come, fly on the wings of CHANGE at UPES.

The Oil and Gas (O&G) sector is a key sector of the Indian economy. It enjoys a significant position as the top item in India's export basket and is one of the six core industries of India.
Future prospects for this sector are promising. Business Monitor International (BMI) has assessed that India will account for 12.4% of Asia Pacific regional oil demand by 2015, while satisfying 11.2% of the supply.
Natural gas is fast emerging as the preferred fuel. At present, it constitutes roughly 9.8% of primary energy consumption and is expected to increase by 280% by 2020. Its environment-friendly properties, greater efficiency and cost effectiveness make it the ideal choice for conscious consumers.
Additionally, crude oil production, as indicated by the core sector index, accounts for over 5% of India's index of industrial production (IIP).
Clearly, this booming sector is poised to generate huge demand for personnel with industry-specific skill sets.

100GROWTH IN
POWER GENERATION
SINCE INDEPENDENCE
FOLD4445
India is a burgeoning economy with an ever- increasing demand for power to fuel its rapid growth. It's the fifth largest producer and consumer of electricity in the world. Over FY07-13, the production has expanded at a CAGR of 5.5%. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years. The aggressive demand for power is driven by multiple factors like rapid industrial expansion and growing per-capita incomes.
To cater to this demand, the Government of India targets th capacity addition of 89 GW under the 12 Five-Year Plan
th(2012–17) and around 100 GW under the 13 Five-Year Plan (2017–22). Additionally, there is growing diversification into renewable sources to bridge the gap between demand and supply. Renewable energy capacity additions of 30 GW are planned in the next five years and wind energy is estimated to contribute 15 GW, followed by solar power at 10 GW.
India has the sixth largest renewable power generation capacity. In 2010, India stood fifth in the Asia-Pacific region in nuclear electricity net generation.
However, the per-capita electricity consumption of India isstands at 819 kWh lower than global average of 2,803 kWh. Clearly there is huge potential in the sector that is waiting to be tapped and there are ample opportunities for further growth.

The Indian economy is expanding at a rapid pace and the need for robust and vast infrastructure is inevitable. The Infrastructure segment is poised to rapidly expand with new developments and investments in the near future; there is a sense of urgency here since the progress of all industries is contingent on the basic infrastructure of the economy.
Spanning from roadways to airways, ports to airports and power production facilities, Indian infrastructure segment is the thrust for the development of the nation. Naturally, this sector enjoys great attention from top policy makers of the country.
A recent study has estimates 18,637 km of expressways need thbe built by the end of the 13 Five-Year Plan period, i.e. 2022.
Infrastructure development (for expressway projects alone), on such a massive scale would require about US$ 77.54 billion, according to the study.
In addition, Indian Railways is expected to clock a healthy 5.5% growth in freight traffic in 2013-14 as against a 4% growth for 2012-13, according to a report from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).
There is huge scope for expansion in this sector at a rapid pace. Competent professionals with sector-specific skills will be in critical demand to facilitate this expansion.

The Civil aviation industry is an important engine for innovation and technological progress in a world with ever-decreasing barriers to trade.
India is currently the ninth largest civil aviation market in the world and ranks fourth in domestic passenger volumes and is set to become the world's third largest by 2020.
It is estimated that freight traffic will be five times the current level by 2035. Growth in import and export in India will be the key driver for growth in freight traffic as 30% of total trade is undertaken via airways.
Aviation as an infrastructure segment has played a vital role in facilitating the growth of business and economy in India. About one-third of world trade (by value) is delivered by air and about half of international tourism is facilitated by air links. Hence, a robust aviation industry is key to seamless flow of investment, trade and tourism, with significant multiplier effects through the economy.
Aviation sector does not only provide air transport for passengers and goods, but also plays a role in employment generation. Going by current and forecasted trends, this sector will continue to grow and generate opportunities for skilled manpower.

Design is a creative activity whose aim is to establish the multi-faced qualities of objects, processes, services and their systems in whole life cycles. Therefore, design is the central factor of innovative humanization of technologies and the crucial factor of cultural and economic exchange. - The French Agency for the
Promotion of Industrial Creation (APCI)
Origins of Design date back to the pre-historic age, when the early man first developed basic tools to simplify his life. Be it using stones to light a fire or using clubs for hunting down animals, the element of scientific thought and spirit of innovation these acts imbibed cannot be overlooked. Fast forward to the 21st century, the importance of design in today’s times cannot be overemphasized. The influence of design is omnipresent in the modern world, reflected in the fields of communication, branding, transportation, automotive, industry or for something more generic as a standalone product.
UPES School of Design Studies provides a stimulating environment encouraging innovation to its students, giving them the ideal platform to become leaders in national and international organizations.

LEGALLegal profession in India is one of the largest in the world. Having played a pivotal role in India's freedom struggle some 6 decades ago, the face of the legal profession in India has undergone a sea change. With globalization and opening up of international trade borders, the horizons for Indian legal community have also become endless. The stage for lawyers is no longer limited to a courtroom, but extends into the corporate boardroom, international trade organizations, patent boards and human rights organizations to name a few. The lawyer of today does not only rely on precedents to make his/her arguments but he/she is a more informed professional aided in his pursuits by new technology and cutting edge research.
