Quote of the Week

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in

the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it be invaded with fret

and anxiety.

Finish every day and be done with it.

You have done what you could.

Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old

nonsense.

This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations,

to waste a moment on the yesterdays.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dear Parents

During the course of this week our teachers returned to school and our

online program was launched. In addition to the above, our Squires

began their Northwood journey with orientation and facility upgrades in

the Boarding Establishment and at Lower Campus were completed. All in

all, it was a busy space but successful week.

As previously mentioned, the Víctor Daitz Centre for Innovation will give

our boys access to the latest in cutting edge technology and creative

learning platforms. I am pleased to report that all the work scopes and

contracts have been signed off and as such, construction and

refurbishment will begin on Monday. The library and surrounds will

therefore not be accessible or operational during the next 10 weeks. I

apologize in advance for the disruption, ultimately it will be so worth the

wait.

Last week our social responsibility arm, The Hope Project, reached out

to the children, staff and elderly of the Mount Royal Community. Through

the support of the Spur Foundation, Apache River Spur at Riverside

Sport, and Northwood boys and staff, we were able to provide 750 meals

to the community. It was a truly blessed day with lots a grateful hearts

and happy faces.

Next week, you can expect final communication on our

boys’ physical return to school – in anticipation of the

return, please ensure boys manage their social

interaction conservatively and safely and assist us in

ensuring all uniform expectations are met. We will not

entertain any excuses in terms of appearance on Day 1.

Lastly, a big THANK YOU, firstly to our garden moms

Mrs Steele and Mrs Price and the moms who pray for

the beautiful and thoughtful gift presented to the staff on Monday. We are

certainly blessed to have these special people as part of our Northwood

Family.

Secondly, to Mr. Beukes and his staff for the tireless efforts in preparing

our facility for the safe return of our staff, boys, parents and visitors. We

are very fortunate to have dedicated and hardworking people who give

so much of themselves in the service of others.

Have a great weekend.
