From the President ~ Happy Fourth of July; to one and all. We are completing our 2016-2017 fiscal year with our final meeting of the year on June 26th, culminating with the presentation of ten $2,000 scholarships to hardworking, dedicated recipients. Our thanks go out to Barbara Hawthorne, Dorothy Lake and Mary Newbold who evaluated the applicants’ applications and selected the winners. Over the past year the Auxiliary has financially contributed to numerous NHMC causes through the Cookie Walk, Tree of Love, Special Donations and miscellaneous giving. These donations benefit hospital care in areas where budgets did not cover, in departments like ED and Radiology. In addition, we have donated an installment of $33,333 toward our $100,000 pledge to the Northridge Hospital Foundation’s Capital Campaign. Many thanks to the Gift Shop which is our main source of revenue; making it possible for us to contribute to these service that NHMC gives to patients and the surrounding community. Shop in our amazing Gift Shop where you’ll find unique items, trendy clothing; great gifts and help our bottom line. We have also had some awesome presentation during our General Meetings. Thanks to Debra Flaherty for doing a wonderful job as VP of Programs. Thanks to all committee members and leaders who support the Auxiliary through the giving of your time, talents and money. The Auxiliary could not do what it does without your dedication and support. Tell a friend or relative how rewarding it is to be part of the NHMC team. More volunteers and Auxiliary members will make us even better. Invite them to a meeting and to join our team. Have a wonderful summer. Try to keep cool. BITTERSWEET GOODBYES
I have written countless memos but this one is bittersweet. It’s farewell to a lovely co-worker, officemate, and friend. I wish her nothing but the best in her new phase in life. We all wish Gaby Evans much happiness and many roads to be travelled whether it is hiking the trails of our backyard or to dreamed of destinations. Congratulations.
With one farewell comes a new journey. I would like to introduce our new Volunteer Coordinator, Karen Sabatino. Although she is new to the role, she has been affiliated with Northridge Hospital for 8 years in the Infant Hearing Screenings. I am sure you will be awed by her kindness, and loving spirit. Mary Grim and I were impressed by those qualities and felt they were important to her new role as Volunteer Coordinator. Also, we sought to capture an individual with familiar ties to the hospital, someone who knows the importance of work- family.
Please come by and welcome Karen. She will be in training for a few weeks with Gaby’s assistance.
