NORTH BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING MINUTES…. May 6, 2013 A regular meeting of the North Brunswick Township Council was held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 7:04 P.M. in the Municipal Complex located at 710 Hermann Road, North Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey. Mayor Womack called the meeting to order. Roll call: Present: Ms. Narra, Ms. Nicola, Messrs. Corbin and Davis Absent: Mr. Andrews and Mr. Socio Also present: Business Administrator, Robert Lombard, Township Attorney, Ronald Gordon, Esq., Director of Public Works, Glenn Sandor, Director of Community Development, Michael Hritz, Chief Financial Officer, Kala Sriranganathan, Director of Parks, Recreation & Community Services, Lou Ann Benson, Harry Rossmann, Special Project Manager, Municipal Clerk, Lisa Russo and Deputy Clerk, Milvi Weiner. Also present, Principal Pete Clark, N.B.T.H.S. Ms. Russo announced that the notice requirements of the law have been satisfied. Notices were sent by certified mail on January 2, 2013 to the following: a) The Home News & Tribune b) Star Ledger c) North Brunswick Sentinel Notice receipts are on file in the Township Clerk’s office. Also, notices were posted on the bulletin board in the Municipal Complex and filed in the Clerk’s office on January 2, 2013. Principal Clark led in the Pledge of Allegiance. “Scholar /Athlete /Artist”: “Payal Mehra” - Councilwoman Narra presented a proclamation to Payal Mehra who is a Senior at the N.B.T.H.S. She is on the High Honor Roll and has a 3.75 GPA. Payal takes Advanced Placement Calculus, Statistics, Micro Economics, Language, Literature, Composition, United States History, European History and Chemistry. She did an internship for Assemblyman David Benson in Hamilton in the summer of 2012 and will attend New York University in the fall and plans to study Economics, Statistics and Political Science. “Nicholas Onorati” - Council President Davis presented a proclamation to Nicholas Onorati who is a Senior at the N.B.T.H.S. He is on the Honor Roll and has a 3.83 GPA. Nicholas is enrolled in Honors Physics, a member of the National Honor Society, the Key Club, the N.B.T.H.S. Choir, Senior Leadership and is his Home Room Representative for the Student Government Organization. He has participated in the Rock-A-Thon, volunteered at the North Brunswick Youth Sports Festival for four years and four years at the North Brunswick Soccer Club Spookarama Tournament. “Joseph Ikuss” - Councilwoman Nicola presented a proclamation to Joseph Ikuss, who is a Senior ath the N.B.T.H.S. He is on the High Honor Roll with a 3.83 Gpa and takes Advanced Placement German, Calculus, European History and Micro Economics and Honors English. Joseph is Captain of the Robotics Team, a member of the National Honor Society, the National German Honor Society and participated in a three week German Foreign Exchange Program with a family in Germany. He will be attending Stevens Institute of Technology. Councilman Socio arrives to the dais at 7:11 pm. Michael Rizzi informed the residents that May is “Poppy Time” for many veteran’s organizations. The poppy became a symbol of the sacrifice of lives in war and represented the hope that none had died in vain. The American Legion Auxiliary poppy has continued to bloom for the casualties of four wars. He asked residents to support the American Legion, VFW and DAV this May and if any resident would like to help decorate graves for Memorial Day - call Post 459 at 732-249-4147 or e-mail [email protected] . Mayor Womack opened the Public Hearing at 7:30 pm. Mr. Salva - read an article in the Sentinel that said people were getting bond money back from being a member of Nob Valley. He wanted to know if this account was still active under his name and if there is any money in the account he would like to donate it to the Buddy Ball Program.
Mayor Womack called for a motion to close the Public Hearing. So moved by Mr. Davis, second by Ms. Narra.

Presentation: Energy Saving Projects Director Glenn Sandor and Harry Rossmann presented a power point presentation of Energy Saving Projects in the Municipal Building, the Senior Center and the Library. They talked of the use of LED lights, having a white roof / sloped / snow guards, new boilers, new domestic HOP Water System, Solar Hot Water System, Senior Center perimeter lights, new library boiler, Preschool Annex had a old boiler, old chillers were replaced and new pump with VFD Drives. Money for these projects came from grants and the Capital Budget.
Reports from Mayor, Council, Administrator, CFO: Mayor Womack - Senior Prom - June 7th from 4:30 - 7:00 pm. Transportation will be available. Luncheon on May 17th - “Frank Sinatra” Ms. Narra - thanked all the volunteers, “Friends of the Library” and Lauren Aretakis for the Annual Book Sale - enormous work - money dedicated to projects for the library. The library serves everyone in the community. Ms. Nicola - wished her mother and all the mothers in town a “Happy Mother’s Day”.
