Summary of last three day’s weather over the State (10th to 12th April 2018):

Rain occurred at many places over Vidarbha, at a few places in Marathwada and at isolated places in Madhya

Maharshtra.

Highest maximum temperature –

41.4°C at Malegaon on 10th and at Akola on 11th April 2018.

Salient Agromet Advisories

In view of expected thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds over Vidarbha during next 24 hours, provide

mechanical support to orchards ( Banana, Papaya), staking in vegetables and undertake propping in mid season

sugarcane.

As rain is expected over all the divisions of the state at isolated places, keep the harvested produce at safer

place.

Konkan

AMFU, Mulde (Sindhudurg district)

Continue harvesting of matured summer rice.

Undertake harvesting of matured groundnut. If required apply light irrigation before harvesting. Dry the

harvested pods in sunshine for 3 to 4 days.

Continue harvesting of 80 to 85% matured mangoes in morning and evening hours. Keep the harvested fruits in

shade to prevent spongy tissue disease and to protect from heat. Transport of harvested fruits should be done

preferably during night hours. Do not apply any insectricides/fungicides 8 days before harvesting of mango

fruits.

Apply 80-100 litres of water per mango tree at 7 days interval. Mulch with grass to avoid the water loss in

mango orchards in lateritic soil.

AMFU, Dapoli ( Ratnagiri, Raigad, Thane distrcits)

Maintain 5 cm water level in summer rice fields.

Due to temperature variation there is possibility of premature fruit dropping in mango, apply

irrigation for alphonso mango @ 150 to 200 litres of water at fortnight interval. If incidence of hopper, aphids and thrips in vegetable crops viz., brinjal, tomato, cabbage, chilli, knol knol etc.,

is noticed, spray Malathion @ 20 ml or Dimethoate @ 12 ml per 10 liter of water.

Madhya Maharashtra

AMFU, Pune ( Pune, Solapur, Jalgaon districts)

Apply irrigation to summer crops, vegetables and fruit crops as per requirement. Reduce interval

between two irrigation and irrigation should be given during evening hours.

For control of fruit borer in okra and tomato, spray Quinolphos 25% EC @ 20 ml or

Chlorantriniliprole 18.5% SC @ 3ml or Novhaleron 10% EC @15ml per 10 litre of water.

Before storing the wheat for seed, soak the seed in water for 2 hours and then dry it in bright sun light

which will help in destroying the loose smut disease.

Under prevailing weather conditions there may be attack of hoppers on mango, spray Spinosad 45 SC

@ 3 ml per 10 litres water.

AMFU, Kolhapur ( Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara districts)

Undertake harvesting of matured groundnut.

Undertake harvesting of matured cashew nuts. Clean the nuts and store after drying in sunlight.

Due to prevailing weather conditions premature fruit dropping may occur in mango, apply irrigation

to mango trees at an interval of 10 to 15 days. For control of mango hoppers spray Lambda

Cyhalothrin 5 % E.C @ 6 ml per 10 liter of water.

Continue earthing up in preseasonal sugarcane and apply Nitrogen @ 136 kg (Urea 295 kg),

Phosphorus @ 85Kg (Single Super Phosphate 531 kg) and Potash @ 85 kg (142 kg Murate of

Potash).

To control fruit rot and dieback in chilli, spray Tebuconazole @10 ml per 10 liters of water.

AMFU, Rahuri (Ahmednagar, Dhule, Nandurbar districts)

Considering high temperature apply mulch in sugarcane with trash/straw if there is water stress. If

water availability is less then use drip irrigation method everyday for 2 hours or apply irrigation at

alternate days or irrigation in alternate furrow.

Use organic mulch e.g. straw, hay, sugarcane trash, dry leaves, etc. in orchards for maintaining soil

moisture. Use drip irrigation method every day for 2 hours or apply irrigation at alternate days or

irrigation be done in alternate ridges.

For control of thrips in onion, spray Carbosulphan @ 10 ml or Fipronil @ 15 ml + @ 20 ml

Triazophos 35% in 10 liters of water + 10 ml Sticker.

AMFU, Igatpuri (Nashik district)

Apply light irrigation to orchards and vegetables. Reduce the interval between two irrigation and

water should be given in the evening. Also apply mulch to preserve soil moisture.

To control aphids, thrips and jassids in summer vegetables, spray Imidacloprid 17.8% SL@ 5 ml or

Fipronil 5% SC@ 35 ml per 10 liters of water.

Marathwada

AMFU, Parbhani (Parbhani, Aurangabad, Jalna, Hingoli, Beed, Osmanabad, Latur, Nanded, districts)

In view of prevailing dry weather, apply irrigation to summer maize, vegetables and mango orchard.

To reduce loss of water by transpiration in maize crop, spray Kaolin @ 6 g per liter of water.

Undertake harvesting of matured vegetable during early in morning or in evening hours.

Continue April pruning in grape orchard.

To control Tikka leaf spot disease in summer groundnut, spray Mancozeb @ 2 g per liter of water.

Vidarbha

AMFU, Akola (Akola, Washim, Amravati, Yavatmal, Buldhana & Wardha districts)

In view of expected thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds over Vidarbha during next 24

hours, provide mechanical support to orchards ( Banana, Papaya), staking in vegetables.

Under the prevailing weather condition, apply irrigation to summer crops (groundnut, sesame,

greengram etc) at 6 to 8 days interval.

To reduce fruit drop in orange and sweet orange due to prevailing high temperature, spray

Potassium Nitrate (10 g/liter of water) on pea sized fruits of mandarin orange (ambia bahar) and

spray of NAA @ 2 g + Urea 1 kg per 100 liters of water In sweet orange. Spray may be repeated after

15 days. Apply frequent adequate irrigation coupled with mulch in orange orchards.

AMFU, Sindewahi (Chandrapur, Nagpur, Gondia, Bhandara, Gadchiroli districts)

In view of expected thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds over Vidarbha during next 24

hours, provide mechanical support to orchards ( Banana, Papaya), staking in vegetables.

Maintain optimum water level (upto 5 cm) in rice fields.

Apply irrigation to summer moong at interval of 6-9 days and sesame at interval of 6-8 days.

To control stem borer in rice, spray Quinalphos @ 32 ml in 10 liter of water.
