SAINT FRANCIS CLUB DRESS DOWN DAY!

THURSDAY, MARCH 1ST.

In recognition of the United Nation’s

World Wildlife Day, March 3, 2018

the St. Francis Club invites you to

dress down in your favorite BIG CAT

color.

World Wildlife Day will be celebrated in 2018 under the theme

“Big cats: predators under threat.”

The definition of BIG CAT has been expanded to: Lion,Tiger, Leopard and Jaquar

(those that ROAR) and cheetah, snow leopard, puma, clouded leopard, etc (those that

don’t ROAR.) These BIG CATS are found in Asia, Africa, and North, Central and South

America.

Unfortunately, WE ARE LOSING OUR BIG CATS AT AN ALARMING RATE! Tiger

populations have decreased by 95% over the last century and the African Lion

population by 40% in just 20 years.

WE ARE REQUESTING A DONATION OF $2 FOR THIS DRESS DOWN

DAY.

***** All proceeds will benefit the KCS Science department and the

needs of our school wildlife.*******

Students grade 6– 8 who wish to participate in stage crew must return form by

Crew members MUST be available for ALL shows and Strike.

Shows are April 20,21,22

Crews must also be available for afterschool and some weekend practices in

Dear Parents:

The Read-a-Thon is a fun way of bringing parents, teachers, and students together to promote the importance of reading. The program is designed to

encourage students to become better readers, by reading more often, trying out new books--and having fun doing it! By asking sponsors to pledge their

support, not only will the students enjoy the benefits of reading, or being read to, they will also support the various activities that Kingston Catholic funds

throughout the school year. 100% of the funds raised stay at the school!

Important Read-a-Thon Dates

February 21st-March 5th –Find sponsors and collect pledges

March 5th Hop into Reading Read-a-thon kicks off!

March 5th thru March 16th--Read, Read, Read! 24 minutes a day! 12 minutes

in school and 12 minutes at home each night. Enter minutes in your reading log.

By March 19th– Money is due to KCS. Please send it in an envelope with the

pledge form.

March 20th – Dress Down Day for Read-a-thon participants.

Read-a-Thon FAQ

How does it work? 2 Weeks of reading work—students read for just 24 minutes a day (12 minutes in school and 12 minutes at home) for 2 weeks, Monday through Friday. 4 Hours of total time—at the end of the 2 weeks, each student will have read for 4 hours. 6 Sponsors pledge their support—each student finds 6 sponsors to support their program. By pledging $1.00/hr. each sponsor contributes just $4.00 per child. Our goal is to have each student raise $24.00. How do I collect pledges? Ask parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, and neighbors that you know if they would like to support your efforts to read and to earn money for your school. DO NOT collect pledges from someone you or your parents do not know. It is not safe and is in no way encouraged by this school. Can I get more than 6 sponsors? Yes, there is no limit on the amount of sponsors you can have.

Who are the winners?

All Participants: Will receive a certificate, a special reading treat and will be entered into a raffle for a variety of prizes.

Students raising at least $24.00 will also receive a dress down day on March 20th.

Highest Sponsorship: The student with the highest sponsorship amount will get a special prize.

100% of the funds raised stay at the school!
