I T IS HEREBY NOTIFIED for general information that His Honour the Chief Jus­tice, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 14(4)(6) of the Courts Ordinance, 19-40, has appointed the following• Magistrates and Registrar to act as Judges of the District Court for a period of one month as from 21st September, 1947 :

P U B L I C N O T I C E .

A British subject in possession of a valid passport which bears on the cover the inscription "British subject" and in which holder's national status is described as "British subject" may travel to Switzerland without a Swiss visa.

2. The waiver of the visa requirement does not exempt British subjects coming to Switzerland from complying with the Swiss Laws and regulations concerning the entry, residence, employment and occupation of foreigners. Travellers who are unable to satisfy the Swiss immigration authorities that they comply with these laws and regulations are liable to be refused leave to enter or land.

3. British subjects who wish to proceed to Switzerland to take employment are required to obtain in advance, through the competent Swiss diplomatic or consular representative, or through their future employer, an "Assurance de l'octroi d'une autorisation de séjour" stating that they will be authorised to take employment in Switzerland.

4. The foregoing provisions apply also to British subjects travelling to the Principality of Liechtenstein.

NOTICES.

I.

The Registrar of Enemy Debts (Palestine) wishes to draw the attention of all firms and individuals owning property in Czechoslovakia to the necessity for making Declarations of their assets by October 31st 1917 for the purpose of assessment of the increment duty and capital levy chargeable under Czechoslovak Law No. 134 of May 15th, 1946. A Notice published in the local press by the Czechoslovak Consulate General in Jerusalem refers.

His Majesty's Government in London have, however, made representations to the Czechoslovak authorities regarding the application of the above law to bank 'balances, mortgages and debts, but so far no reply has been received to these

representations. British subjects and Palestinian citizens holding assets concerned in Czechoslovakia may wish to make declarations without prejudice, in order to safeguard their position pending the outcome of the representations.

The Registrar of Enemy Debts (Palestine) wishes to remind the public of the necessity of supporting past and future applications in respect of property in

Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Roumania, Czechoslovakia, Poland, U.S.S.R. and Yugoslavia,

by proof of the applicant's British nationality or Palestinian citizenship on form R E D 10.

2. Claimants in respect of property in Czechoslovakia must satisfy the Czechos­lovak authorities as to their title to the property, especially where the title is based on inheritance. His Majesty's Government in London will not be able to sponsor a claim unless title to ownership has been fully established.

3. Claimants in respect of property in Poland are advised to instruct lawyers there to proceed with their claims, particularly for preliminary enquiries, informa­tion of the legal aspect of the matter, establishing their right to ownership. Claim­ants for war damages who have not yet supplied me with 4 copies (translations of the Polish Questionnaire A) should do so immediately.

4. In cases of nationalization or confiscation which were doubtful at the time of registration ,'any further relevant information which has in the meantime become available should be submitted.

A l l persons liable for payment of taxes un­der the Urban and/or Rural Property Tax Ordinance are reminded that these taxes were due to be paid for the year 1947-48 in advance on 1st A p r i l , 1947, and that failure to make payment within six months from the due date wil l render the owner liable to the payment of a penalty not exceeding 20% of the amount of the tax.

2. As the penalty not exceeding 20% in res­pect of the first instalment of Urban Property Tax wi l l be imposed on all amounts not paid by the 1st October, 1947, owners are advised to make payment at the District Office con­cerned before 30th September, 1947, if they de­sire to avoid the payment of the penalty.

It is notified for general information that notices intended for publication in the Palestine Gazette should be addressed, together with the appropriate publication fees, direct to the Government Printer, P.O.B. 293. Jerusalem.

Notices of registration of Companies, Cooperative Societies, Trade Marks and Patents will not be accepted for publication unless submitted through the appropriate Eegistrar.

Orders with regard to the administration of the estate of deceased persons or probate of wills, and any orders issued under the Companies Ordinance, or in accordance with any other Ordinance or Order of the Court, and notices of registration and dissolution of partnerships will not be inserted unless passed for publication by the Court or Registrar.
