Patriots of the Week
The PTA would like to recognize Susan Guest as the Patriot of the Week. She has beeninstrumental in planning and running Boon's Ribbon Week. Because of her hard work,students have been able to dress for the daily causes, learn about various charities,and raise money to donate to these charities. Thank you for your wonderful contributionto Boon and our students! You are appreciated by so many!
Ribbon Week Ends Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Nov. 3, is the last day of Ribbon Week. There's still time todonate to a "CAUSE" and earn a Rainbow Brag Tag! Bring in $$$ orchange to turn into your homeroom collection jar. 100% of yourdonations will go to help support these causes:

Attendance Reminders
We want to remind you about attendance andTruancy policies. We appreciate your efforts toensure your child is on time and present each day.Please refer to Family Access to monitor your child'sattendance. You will be able to view your child's absence(s) and whether they havebeen excused and any other changes to attendance.
Please contact the school office or email Cathy Slagle if your child will be absentor late.Please send a note within 3 school days upon your child's return to school.If your child goes to the doctor at any point during the day, the District requires anote from the doctor upon their return to campus. If a note is not received, theirabsence will be coded as a partial day absence.Partial day absences will be coded in our system when your child has left school
during the school day.
The accumulation of Unexcused absences and/or Partial day absences are regarded asTruancy occurrences. Boon is required to file a Truancy Referral when a student hasaccumulated 10 within a 6 month period.

Boon Science Fair
Boon's annual science fair will take place on December 6. Ifyour child is interested in competing, please complete thescience fair flyer and return it to their homeroom teacher byNovember 3.
In order to be conscientious of the environment, we will not besending home science fair information packets. You may viewa copy of the science fair rules, example products, and display rules online.

Operation Gratitude
Holiday 2017
The Holidays are such a magical time for children. The Staff atBoon Elementary are wanting to help BRIGHTEN the season ofa few of our Boon Patriots. If you need some HOLIDAY HELPwith one gift for your child please fill out the Holiday Help Form and return it to SusanGuest, Counselor by Wednesday, November 8, 2017. The Boon Staff will purchase onegift (value $20-$25) for each child registered, wrap it and have it ready for parent pick-up the week of December 11-15, 2017.

Recycled Art Contest Winners
Thank you to all our Recycled Art Contest participants. All of thesubmitted art works were beautiful and full of imagination.
A few Boon students will have their work displayed at City Hall, in the rotunda fromOctober 31 to November 4. While on display, entries will be judged by City Staff andKeep Allen Beautiful Board Members. Visitors to City Hall may also vote for "mostpopular".

Veterans Day Program
Veterans Day ProgramFriday, Nov. 108:15 AM - Boon Cafeteria RSVP Invitations were sent home in Thursday Folders last week and can be returned tothe office through the week of November 6th!
Your student is welcomed to invite a Veteran to attend. You can also send in a photo tobe displayed in our Veteran showcase by the Library.
Student, Veteran and their family will attend a school-wide program, have their picturetaken, escorted in a parade through our halls, and attend a reception in their honor.Hope you and your Veteran can attend!

Boon PTA is partnering with Kendra Scott for a special shopping event. 20% of allpurchases made between 6-8pm will be donated to Boon PTA.

21 Day Challenge Follow Up Survey
21 Day Challenge has ended, but we hope that you arecontinuing your healthy snacking habits at home!
For those that registered, the final portion of this great event includes completing apost-survey. You will soon receive an email from Kids Teaching Kids/Medical CityChildren's Hospital with some simple questions. Please complete it utilizing the "SecretCode" you received. There is an awesome reward for those kids who completed thechallenge and survey!

Boon PTA will receive $1 anytime you eat at Cotton Patch inAllen between November 6 and January 31 and order an itemfrom their "Kids Fit Menu".
The holidays are coming and schedules are getting busier. If you haven't tried CottonPatch Cafe's delicious menu, this is your chance to stay out of the kitchen. Let's supportrestaurants that offer healthy items for our kiddos while earning money for our school!

The Patriot Press is Boon PTA's student book publishingprogram. Student publishing promotes literacy and creativity.The Patriot Press is now accepting original manuscripts fromstudents in grades K-6. The deadline to turn in completedmanuscripts is Thursday, November 16.
Parent volunteers - both editors and typists - are needed to help support this wonderfulprogram! Editing provides great one-on-one interaction with students. Typing is veryflexible and can be done outside of school hours. If interested, please email PatriotPress Chair, Jacqueline Cole.
Kindergarten CogAT Testing
AISD Gifted and Talented and Assessment Department will be coordinating upcomingKindergarten CogAT testing at your campus. All AISD Kindergarten students will beadministered a CogAT aptitude test during the weeks of November 28 - December 11,2017. Parents can view the informational letter via Skyward & Family Access the weekof November 6 - November 10. This test will be administered in groups at eachcampus.

Be a 2017-2018 Boonster!
The Boonster program is Boon PTA's "write the check"campaign and is our main fundraising initiative of the year. TheBoonster campaign funds all PTA programs throughout theschool year and also allows the PTA to fund an annual gift toschool that pays for items identified by the Campus Improvement Committee aspriority needs. Past gifts have paid for technology equipment for classrooms, librarybooks, and grade level programs and software.
Please consider making a donation. We also welcome corporate matching gifts andbusiness partnership recognition with local businesses.
There are two ways to donate:
