The Ninety-Nines

Diane Pirman, Sally Hill and Patti Lynn from the Santa Maria Chapter of the

Ninety-Nines presented a very interesting program about their organization.

The Ninety-Nines is the international organization of women pilots that

promotes advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual

support, while honoring their unique history and sharing their passion for flight.

The name came from the first ninety-nine women who started the organization

in 1929, led by Amelia Earhart. The International Headquarters is in Oklahoma

City, and there is a memorial at the Santa Maria, California, airport.

Greetings District MD4-A3 Members ~

As you have read in the news, there are the fires in Australia, the volcanic eruption in the Philippines and, closer to home, the earthquakes in Puerto Rico. All of these disasters have led to tremendous human needs. And with each of them, LCIF has been there to provide aid and comfort to those in need. Even closer to home, over the past two years, wildfires have devastated large areas right here in California including some right here in District 4-A3. All of these disaster relief funds have been provided through donations to LCIF through the generosity of Lions Clubs and individuals throughout the world. During my time on the International Board, I was able to see firsthand the effect LCIF had on the lives of people throughout the world. Now, with the great needs, I am asking Lions Clubs here in District 4-A3 to consider making a donation to LCIF so that the aid can continue to be sent to areas of the world, our nation, and our state so that we can continue to offer the assistance of Lions Clubs International to those whose lives have been so changed. For information about how you can donate to our Foundation, click here and donate to either Empowering Service or Disaster Relief. All donations to either of these Funds will go to improve the lives of people in need. And, if you want the donation to be credited toward a Melvin Jones Fellowship, you can designate that through the donation form. As always, I want to thank you for your generosity and service. Howard Hudson Past International Director District 4-A3 LCIF Co-Chair
