Machete is about a former federal called ‘Machete’(Danny

Trejo). He roams texas as a vigilante who is double-crossed and forced to go on the run. He goes on a bloodspill to settle

the score.

These are the nine frame that I will analyse.

Frame: 1Instantly, we see the director's name in a white, bold font which shows great importance. within a black background; there is a hand holding a machete; a weapon (genre convention) which signifies danger and this is also emphasized by the red colour. Also this frame makes the audiences engage in finding out who the man is and it also sets the tone for the film.

Frame: 2Within this frame; the title ‘Machete’ is signified by the white, bold font used and it is in 3-D which makes it more significant. In addition, the camera is looking up a man who is shown to carry numerous amounts of machete; his presence is very intimidating for the audience as they won’t know who the person is as he vaguely shown. However, the audience will know that the man is very dangerous and powerful.

Frame: 3This frame shows; the man with two machetes engaged in violence and from the audience's perspective; it looks like he is attacking someone. The camera view shows the audience that the man is powerful and dominant as; the camera is tilting up from a low-point which shows us that the person who is being attacked is in a vulnerable state. The orange colour signifies his power, aggression and dangerous presence.

Frame: 4Within this frame; a main actress ‘Michelle Rodriguez’ is introduced in one frame. This shows that she is a well-known actress and it signifies her importance within the movie itself as she is given a whole shot to herself. In addition, she is holding a weapon( genre convention) which shows the audience that; she is a dangerous character as this is emphasized by the orange colour but she also symbolises authority.

Frame: 5This frame shows a female character who is signified as a sexual & dangerous individual; She is ‘licking a gun’ which shows us that she has a dangerous ego as the green signifies emotion. really, women in movies are portrayed to be innocent & attractive. However, her innocent is deceived by her sexual attractiveness. As no writing is shown within this frame; it makes the audience engage in finding out who this woman is.

Frame: 6This frame introduces an actor ‘Don Johnson’ and this shows the audience that; he is significant and he his dominated with authority and power. This is shown by the clothing he’s wearing and the red colour connotes power and danger. To the audience; he may be a protagonist as he is a sheriff; however, the audience may feel inferior as the character is portrayed to be superior. In addition, he is wearing aviators which make him seem cool. Again, his significance is shown by the bold font.

Frame: 7This frames shows a very powerful man with a lot of authority. The blue connotes wisdom and this is signified through the appearance of this as; he is wearing formal clothing and he is old at age. To the audience; he is not to be underestimated as he carries a weapon which shows that he can be dangerous. also this person is unknown so the audience would want to know who this person is.

Frame: 8Again, Robert Rodriguez name is shown. This shows the audience that he is very important within the film industry but also within this movie. The orange signifies both of the directors strength and power.

Frame: 9This frame shows the audience that the company name is very important and it is a well known production as; the name is written in a white, bold font. Again, the background is red and numerous amounts of machetes which show the audience that; the movie signifies rage, violence and blood which shows that audience that this movie is very gruesome.

Explanation The opening for the movie ‘Machete’ shows us that the movie is very violent, gruesome and there is a lot of killing involved. Also the opening signifies each frame with bright, bold colours like red, blue, green and orange. The font used for the director’s/actor’s name is bold and bright which also shows importance. In addition, the elements used like tilt shows great importance to the character and it shows that audience that; they are dangerous and ‘they’re not to mess with’.

For my opening I will use big fonts with bright colour(especially red) to portray thriller as the significant factor. Also I will show each character to be superior so the audience feel intimidated and inferior. In addition, I will show the director’s name more than once to show how importance the director is.
