Georgia has been my home forthe past 20 years. Although I wasborn in Washington D.C., I wasraised in a suburban town with asouthern bell attitude. Although Ido appreciate the charm of thesouth, I've always known that I wasa city girl at heart.

When it was time for me toattend college, I was lucky enoughto get accepted to the University ofGeorgia. I am eternally grateful forall of the amazing experiences andopportunities that were available tome at this institution. Theseopportunities have shaped me intothe passionate person I am today.By studying public relations, fashion merchandising, new mediaand legal studies at UGA, I'v cometo discover the exact field I want topursue a career in.

When I was a freshman incollege, I joined Delta Gamma.Being a member of this sororityhas helped me grow into astronger person, and it has givenme many opportunities to explorefashion PR and find mentors in myfield. This sorority would be thereason why I would go on to havetwo amazing fashion and eventplanning opportunities thatcaused me to have a unique andfulfilling college experience.

As mentioned in the previoussection, Delta Gamma exposed meto the opportunity to be a UGAASOS campus manager andrepresentative. This was such anenriching experience. I worked withthree other UGA students under acompany called Youth MarketingConnections. To the left is a pictureof a fashion show I co-hosted withthe campus's FashionDesign Student Association (I wasalso on the public relations anddecor committee for this club andhelped produce the show).

Traveling and experiencingnew cultures is one of myfavorite hobbies. I had thepleasure to participate inUGA's study abroad programat Oxford University thesummer after my sophomoreyear. I learned so much aboutinternational communicationsand about myself during thissummer abroad.

I also had the opportunityto travel around Europe everyweekend. One of my favoritetrips was to Paris. This cityintoxicated me. Paris’s uniquesense of fashion and lifestyleput me in a trance, and I knewthat I had to work for acompany that associateditself with multiple magicalcities around the world andwould allow me to potentiallytravel the world for work.

When I returned to UGA, I devoted myselfto my schoolwork and campus clubs. FDSAand the Student Merchandising Associationwere two of my top priorities. Through theseclubs, I was able to have a huge role in UGAFashion Week. I served as a board memberand helped produce two fashion shows.

During my junior year, I wasalso a campus representative for ajewelry company calledSoulPepper Designs. I lovedworking with the owner of thisstartup company and really lovedhosting trunk shows, pop-upshops and getting pieces from thelines placed in fashion shows.

On top of being a campus rep, Iwas also interning for a luxurylifestyle and fashion show eventthat benefited charity. This was ahuge learning experience becauseI got to see behind-the-scenesaction and experience how muchhard, but fun, work goes intoproducing a large-scale event.

The summer after junior year, Iwas determined to land an internshipin NYC at a top fashion, beauty andlifestyle public relations agency in thecity.

I moved to the city to intern for PRConsulting and fell in love. During myinternship, I worked on the Loewe,J.W.Anderson, Pringle of Scotland andSophie Theallet accounts. Althoughevery day was hectic, I saw energyand creativity all around me. I had afeeling that this city would be myhome one day.

After the summer, I returnedto UGA to start my last year ofcollege. That year, I was the PRDirector of UGA's PRSSAChapter. This club stretched meto be the best professionalversion of myself, and I honestlybelieve it has prepared me forthe real world more than anyclass could. *This is a picturefrom the first PRSSA ExecBoard retreat

The first semester of senior year was insane. I became a JessicaSimpson Campus representative and was given the amazing chanceto fly to NYC, meet Jessica Simpson and tour her showrooms. Thiswas an experience I will never forget.

As a representative, I hosted different fashion events includingcampus scavenger hunts, denim bars, trunk shows andfashion shows. Above are two pictures from a fashion show than mypartner and I planned and hosted at a restaurant and bar in Athens,Georgia. Not only did we have a great turnout for the show, but wealso provided our guests with food, goody bags and raffle itemsduringthe show.

After I met Jessica Simpsonand her team, I stayed in NYC towork Fashion Week. ThroughPR Consulting I worked theEdun and Sophie Thealletshows. It was such a chaotictime, but I loved every secondof it.

During my last semester atUGA, I was the PR intern for aluxe accessories companynamed Bené Scarves. I lovedworking with the companybecause part of the proceeds of each sale go towards educatingyoung women in Ghana.Interning for them allowed meto take two of my passions, fashion and empoweringwomen, and infuse the two.

After graduation, I was determined to move to New YorkCity to pursue fashion PR no matter the cost. I was sodetermined that I relocated without a job. Fortunately, I wasaccepted into the fall 2016 internship program at LaFORCE, afashion, beauty, lifestyle, hospitality and entertainment PRfirm located in Manhattan, as a full-time fashion PR intern.Because this position was paid, I was treated like a realemployee with real responsibilities. My time therewas extremely enjoyable and educational. Not only did I learnhow to manage multiple responsibilities in the work place, but I mastered the art of prioritizing and time management.Although I made a few mistakes at the beginning, I quicklylearned from those errors and used the experiences to helpme become a more efficient intern. Other skills I masteredmastered during this program were internalcommunications, attention to detail, and being diligent whenworking on a task. I feel very prepared to rock any entry-level PR position after this program.

Now that I have graduated, I have important decisions to make. There has been a lot of change in my life in a short amount of time, and there is much more to come. I choose to embrace the changeand fear that comes from chasing my dreams. Breaking into thisindustry is tough and scary, but the idea of not trying is evenscarier.
