What do we do?

Evolutio was formed in 2012; Born from a vision to support optometrists in delivering NHS care beyond GOS

The team has careers from High Street Optometry, NHS Hospital Ophthalmology, NHS Commissioning, Technology, Business Operations and Data Analytics

The organisation is clinically-led, with a Consultant Ophthalmologist on the board of Directors and optometrists holding senior roles.

The systems are designed to enhance clinical skills in optometry in a safe environment by working collaboratively with ophthalmologists, the key is through shared medical records and virtual clinics.

The company has grown to provide regional services from Enhanced Optometry, to full outpatient services, eye casualty clinics and surgery.

Our technology and infrastructure is bespoke and supports our services as well as other NHS ophthalmology providers and secondary care eye departments

The service was designed by local stakeholders – not EvolutioThe service was commissioned in September 2019 following formal procurement exerciseThe aim is to support the Hospital Eye Service and ensure patients are seen in the right place, first time…ideally closer to their own homeThe go live is 1st November 2019 and the service will run to 2021 as a minimum –with an option to extend by a further 1-2 yearsThe service includes the following pathways

Referrals into service are direct from Optometry (fax, eRefer) and from GP’s (e-RS)Patients can also ’walk in’ to a service provider, undergo triage and be assessed

We have local transfer pathways agreed with secondary care providersThe service will be delivered through a number of local providers (community optometry providers)

Community optometry now have the opportunity to get involved and deliver NHS funded services

Doncaster Service Overview

We will run 2 initial CET events this year and another in late spring 2020 - all with CET points. The first is on Enhanced Optometry Services and Glaucoma (RR/stable and suspect) – tonight!The second on (provisionally) 19th November - Child Eye Care and Pre and Post op cataracts. After each module there are some MCQ’s. You are of course exempt from these if you have an equivalent or higher qualification in the requisite area for pathway delivery. The following pathways are available to you but you do not have to deliver them all. All the pathways have protocols which are part of the clinical governance framework.
