Although delighted that our nursery is again proving to popular I like many of you am disappointed that a number of children who have siblings in school and have been with us in the Chil- dren’s centre haven’t been allocated places. The admissions process is not something that the school is directly involved in, places are allocated by the LA so any appeals or complaints must be sent directly to them. I have already contacted the admissions team and expressed my concern and am desperately trying to find some solutions however the issue this year is complicated further by the governments new 2 year old entitlement initiative which means our Children’s Centre may also be oversubscribed in January. I will keep you posted with any further developments. Our Key stage 1 classes are also full as is Year 4. Ms Davies :) Key Stage 1 Reading Workshop A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Key Stage 1 Reading Workshop on Tuesday, Miss Holdsworth was thrilled to see so many of you there. I’m sure you found the session useful and are now accessing the reading and phonics pages on the class blogs. Remember you are more than welcome to access the school library and take additional books home. Thank you for your support. School/nursery Admissions

I am aware that a number of you have received letters regarding admission

to Nursery in January this week. Although delighted that our nursery is

again proving to popular I like many of you am disappointed that a number

of children who have siblings in school and have been with us in the Chil-

dren’s centre haven’t been allocated places. The admissions process is not

something that the school is directly involved in, places are allocated by

the LA so any appeals or complaints must be sent directly to them.

I have already contacted the admissions team and expressed my concern

and am desperately trying to find some solutions however the issue this

year is complicated further by the governments new 2 year old entitlement

initiative which means our Children’s Centre may also be oversubscribed in

January.

I will keep you posted with any further developments.

Our Key stage 1 classes are also full as is Year 4.

Have a good weekend!

Crucial Crew

Year 6 had a great visit to Crucial Crew yesterday

where they learnt all about how to stay safe! Check

out their blog for more information and photos!

Multi Skills

Barnsley Football Club have restarted the

multi skills club this week!

Tuesday 3.30—4.30 pm

£2 a session

All welcome!

Year 6 parents event

Thank you to those parents

that came to support Year 6

and Miss Walsh today and have

a go at our Mental Maths

challenge!

Now you can see why we nag so

much about times tables!

Lost Property

We have had a real spate of coats, jumpers and PE kit going

missing at school over the last couple of weeks.

Year 2 face an additional challenge because of the position of

their cloak room.

Could I ask all parents and carers to ensure that their chil-

dren’s uniform and PE kit are marked with their name. If you

find your child has come home with the wrong uniform please

support us by returning it to school.

Any lost property is put in the red lost property box that can

be found in the hall.

PE/Assembly times and Phonics

To maximise learning time , particularly phonics and reading we

have moved assemblies to 3.10pm. This means we gain an extra

20 minute slot in the morning to deliver phonics and guided

reading sessions.

The downside of this is that our afternoon sessions are now

shorter. By law we have to deliver 2 hours PE a week, to ensure

we maximise the length of the PE sessions some classes get

changed for PE before afternoon break so they are ready to

get straight into their PE lesson,. Outside PE will also take

place even if it is a bit chilly and drizzly! Children are more

than welcome to bring tracksuit bottoms and tops in for PE as

we move into the Autumn /Winter weather.
