Well- being for all
Congratulations CHORDS Choral and Dance Spectacular was held last week with the majority of our students performing on Wednesday night. What an incredible display of talent and organisation! The students were obviously exhausted at the end with so many rehearsals and performances but what an experience that will stay with them for many years . A mammoth thank you to Mrs Edmunds for all of her hard work over the year preparing the students and Ms Baker and Mrs Michel for their assistance. The Junior Band and Concert Band combined with the bands from Lake Albert Public and South Wagga Public last Friday for a full day of practice with the Conservatorium. This was to prepare them for a combined public schools concert at the amphitheatre in the Civic Gardens on Friday night. Our two bands had the opportunity to show case as individual bands and then combined with the other schools to form a band of approximately 100 students. What an incredible experience for all of our young musicians and certainly a wonderful listening experience for the audience. The students and schools all shone and the parents and the wider school communities should be very proud of their children. A huge thank you to Mr Harris for his organisation and transporting of equipment which is quite a task. A special thank you to Caleb Harris and parents who assisted Mr Harris on the night. Sally Davidson Principal

VOTE FOR Band Notes Last Friday, our Junior and Concert Band Members were provided with the opportunity to participate in the Conservatorium Of Music Combined School Band rehearsal. Students travelled to the Conservatorium where they participated in sectionals and rehearsals throughout the day in preparation of their concert. The concert was held at the Civic Theatre Amphitheatre and involved around a hundred students from three different schools. Those who attended were treated to a delightful array of music from traditional to more contemporary pieces, the ‘Revenge of the Dust Bunnies’ being one of my favourites. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the students who took the time to participate and for the wonderful ‘showcase’ you provided for the public of Wagga Wagga. I would also like to thank the parents and students who assisted in setting up and packing up the equipment. It is a mammoth task and does require many hands to make the evening a success.

Young Filmmakers selected as National Finalists Students from Year 5 and 6 are very excited after being selected as a finalist in the Primary Live Action section of ‘Screen It’ 2015- Australia’s largest competition for school-aged filmmakers, animators and game makers.. This year over 500 entries from schools were received from all over Australia and the short film, ‘The Future Is Bright, Bright Is the Future’ is one of only six finalists. The talented students not only wrote the storyline, script, acted, directed and filmed the short movie but also wrote the lyrics, the soundtrack and then performed it! The post production skills of editing, sound effects, music and titles were then completed. ‘Screen It’ is run by Australian Centre for the Moving Image and is designed to encourage imagination and inventiveness in primary and secondary school students The students will be travelling to Melbourne for the awards ceremony which will take place at The Australian Centre for the Moving Image at Federation Square on Friday 13th November 2015. Steven ‘Bajo’ O’Donnell and Stephanie ‘Hex’ Bendixsen, hosts of ABC TV's Good Game, will be the hosts of the ceremony. Mrs Kerry Fitzpatrick
Daniel Morcombe Day A big thank you to all of the students who wore the colour red last Friday. The key messages of ‘Everyone has the right to feel safe’ and to ‘Recognise, React, Report’ were delivered in all classrooms through viewing video clips and completing activities. CHORDS Choral and Dance Spectacular Congratulations to our CHORDS choir and dance troupe who were outstanding at the CHORDS choral and dance spectacular last week. The choir has been very busy learning lyrics to 15 songs including ‘Lest we forget’, ‘Count on Me’, and ‘Geronimo’. Our school combined with South Wagga, Tolland, Collingullie and Ladysmith Public Schools for our performance matinee and evening show. The choir is to be congratulated for fantastic performances! Well done to our dance troupe for brilliant performances in ‘What a wonderful world’ and ‘Ordinary Miracle’. KPS also had 5 fantastic singers participate in the Core Choir being Lachlan Stephens, Jaime Esler, Josie Galvin, Taniesha Allcorn and Emma Banger.
