How to market your business with QR Codes?
More and more businesses are using QR codes as part of their marketing and communications. But how can you use them to better market your own business?
QR (Quick Response) codes are 2D barcodes that can be scanned and read by smart phones. Once read, they will redirect to a website, shown a video, or generate an SMS text or call to someone, depending on what has been set up. There many free QR generator sites . Not all of them are good - make sure you test a code before releasing them.
Not all businesses are able to take advantage of QR code marketing. Since you need a smart phone with a camera, QR scanner and an internet connection, you need to decide if this reflects your target audience or not.
Some examples how organizations can use QR codes to market and communicate themselves better to their stakeholders are: • On For Sale signs: link to a sell sheet includes, plus
video walkthroughs. • On produce: link to information about the farm,
organic vs. conventional growing, best by dates, etc. • On bottles of wine: link to information about the
vintage, vineyard, or even be directed to the online
For Your InformationDoes your (small) business need an iPad?
Though clearly aimed at casual users and touted primarily for couch web surfing and multimedia consumption, the iPad also has plenty of potential business uses. But as a business owner, do you really need one?
Whyyoushould:• It gives you the ability to make impressive
presentations on the road.• Monitoring core business functions is easy.• Compared to other dispatch applications, the 10-
inch screen makes it that much easier to receive dispatches, report on work completed and process payments.
• For Health Clinicians it is a good device to easily look at patient monitoring programs.
• The strong e-reader capability, including animated or video demonstrations, makes it very attractice to store manuals or make them available online.
Whyyoushouldn’t:• The iPad is not a smartphone and it can’t replace a
desktop or a laptop either• It is not meant for heavy content creation. It’s more
for content consumption or light content creation. • Currently, it lacks an SD card slot/USB
port, Thunderbolt connectivity, Near Field Communications technology as well as 4G
QRcodesonamapofRomelinkingtoinformationontouristsights
store.• On tags for sustainable clothes:
link to the story why it is sustainable
• For conference signage: link to information on the upcoming sessions
• On trade show booths: (be entered to) win a free iPod.
• On recipes in magazines: link to a video, reviews and feedback.
