This week has been a very busy week with members of the leadership team meeting with Mel Lambert and representatives of the Governing Council to discuss the student, parent and staff feedback on communication. Next step is to plan the best way forward. Thank you to everyone who participated; your responses formed rich data which Mel will collate with that of the recent meeting and share with us to help in the planning.
Annually we collect parent opinion through school surveys, this year the link is: https://www.schoolsurvey.edu.au/s/SVzDzjWQ. This link has also been popped on to our Facebook page. If you cannot access internet, we have printed copies in the front office which you are welcome to complete. The data from this survey also helps us in our forward planning. Thank you.
Last night staff held a movie night for the primary students. There was much excitement about the event, but not quite up there with the excitement over the opening of the primary green play space! Rob Sanders and Russell Glayde cut the red ribbons leading into the space after a short address to the students. Note was the hard work of our parents, some students and Rob and Russell in achieving this space and that in using it students needing to be respectful of the plants, so that the space can reach its full potential. After the ribbons were cut the students streamed into the space!
We started the week with a Remembrance Service with the whole school in attendance. Students who worked with Mrs Kupke presenting and participating as cadets. You were respectful and inspiring. Thank you. At the conclusion, students and staff placed a poppy in a cross as a sign of respect.
Last night was the year 7 into year 8 transition information evening. Thank you to
all families who were able to come out on a cold and wet evening! Special thanks
to Mrs Kupke for showing you around the school in the rain before settling in for
a presentation in a year 7/8 classroom. Copies of handouts will go home tonight
for families who couldn’t make it. We ask that you return the questionnaire by
Friday 24th November to aid us in planning. Thank you.

On Monday at 11:00 am we attended a Remembrance Day Assembly with the whole school and listened to speakers; Paul Webb, Tess Jarvis and Jordan Gale talk about why we commemorate Remembrance Day and the importance of the poppy. We were also lucky to have three cadets, Jordan Gale, Keegan Gale and Jordan Martin dress in their cadet uniforms; and perform their duties demonstrating their precision and commitment.
On Wednesday night we held a very successful movie night with about 70 students attending. We watched two movies and had a fruit box and hot dog tea raising approximately $250. A big thankyou to Kate Fitzgerald and her year 8 class for preparing the hotdogs; and to Donna Hall who helped serve and clean up on the night. Also to the staff who gave up their time to ensure the movie night was possible, thank you.
As part of our transition process we ran a parent information session for parents of new kindergarten students transitioning to BCDS at school on Tuesday night which was well attended. It was also good to see the Kindergarten students spending some time at school on Tuesday attending their first primary assembly. Transition will occur from Monday 4th December to Friday 8th December in week 8. During the transition days students will be involved in 2018 curriculum activities and will receive their stationary packs and information regarding classroom requirements for 2018. Finally, good luck to Henry Hall, George Arthur and Rory Kumnick who will be in Adelaide next week representing
North Eastern in SAPSASA Tennis and Jaden Carey and Colby Peacock who will represent the district in cricket.

This is our model of our town we made for Geography. We made parts of the school, the butcher’s shop, the pub, the Kindy, Hilly’s office, Elise’s house, Pop’s house, the silos, the playground and the pool. We are very proud of our efforts and the result!
