DAY CARE NEWS

I am taking vacation with my family soon, a present from my sister to all of us.Time together is so precious. We have a two and a half year old, my nephewConnor, to keep us all busy and amused. Since his birth, he has brought ussuch joy, I can hardly remember what we did before he was born!

May is almost over, which means the ‘school year' portion of our program isending. We celebrated Teacher Appreciation Day this month. I would like tothank our teachers for all their hard work. Our parents truly appreciate theservice we offer. They can go to work assured that their children are happy, learning and playing with other children in a safe setting. I think it is especiallydifficult for the infant room parents, leaving their tiny babies, but our staffmakes them feel comfortable so they are able to do their jobs without worry.

Some of our parents, children and staff attended "Go to Church Sunday" May5th. The Pre-K and Toddlers made art work and baked breads and browniesfor coffee hour. I would like to thank Marilyn and the Coffee Hour Staff forcutting and displaying the treats. Pastor made everyone feel welcome and itwas very nice to worship together.

Mother's Day takes at least a week of preparation as the children make cardsand gifts for their Mommy. The parents appreciate how the teachers capturetheir tiny hand prints and sweet smiles. Homemade gifts are the best!

At Chapel, Pastor spoke to us about Pentecost. We learned that it is theBirthday of the Church (the children can relate to that!)

We had our last Music class for the year. We really enjoy Dr. Pinto's activities.Yoga, with Mrs. Jaeggli, is such a hit! The children love it so much and oftenshow me the latest pose! Miss Cindy, Seaford's Children's Librarian, will make

her last Story Hour visit with our Pre-K class at the end of the month. I wouldlike to thank her for visiting with her wonderful projects, great stories, and funactivities. Her visits make the winter months so much more fun! This summerwe will visit her at the library during the Summer Reading Program.

We smiled for our class photos and the graduates were able to try a cap andgown on for size. The children looked really cute!

The three classrooms are desperately trying to spend as much time outdoorsas possible, whenever the weather permits. Spring hasn't been very warm orcooperative, but we are getting in all of the fresh air we can!

In the meantime Pre-K and Toddlers are finishing the numbers up to ten andpreparing for our Graduation Program. The program is a large production butalways worth the work. The children have started to practice the songs andmake the decorations. The theme this year is "At the Zoo." Our program willbe on June 21st.

From May 25th to June 1st we will be having a week long Five Below FundRaiser with Nursery School. We will receive 10 percent of all sales at Five Belowduring that week. Please check the website for the form you need to bring tothe store in order for us to receive credit for the sale. We will also have formsavailable in the Narthex. They are blue. Thanks in advance for your help!

Warm regards,Melissa Bires-McGee

Nursery News June 2013

Congratulations and thanks are in order for Registrar Secretary, Ruthann Mast,Parish Administrator, Cindy Solliday and Pre-K Teacher, Sheryl Starr for their years ofservice to Lutheran Schools. The Lutheran Schools' Association recognized Ruthann, 30years, Cindy 20years, and Sheryl, 10 years at the annual meeting and dinner at LuHi on May15, 2013. I am so appreciative of their commitment to our school.

At Our Redeemer Nursery School the end of the year is upon us again! Students arebusy practicing their songs to present at the end of year ceremonies. This year our MovingUp and Graduation theme is Oh, The Places You Will Go. The collection of songs will beabout Transportation and traveling up to Fours and Kindergarten. It is always hard to seeour 4's move on to Kindergarten and leave Our Redeemer behind. We hope they will returnto visit. We will look forward to seeing our Playgroup students, and 3 year old students, return in September. I'm sure both will be a little more grown up and a little more confident.Students are enjoying their last month of school playing on the play-ground, making craftsfor Father's Day, hearing about Flag Day, and planning summer time fun.

May 31st will be our All School Picnic at Seamans Neck Park. The Bounce Houses ,Face Painting, and Cotton Candy will all be funded with our Fund raising dollars! OurSummer Fun Program will be July 16-August 8. We have approximately 75 children, ages3-6, enrolled. My Summer Fun Staff has lots of fun and educational activities planned.

It has been another blessed year for me as director of this wonderful school! Theevents of Sandy provided a challenge for our community but the love and support offriends, family and parish have been a blessing for many. It reminded me of how thankful Iam to be a part of the Our Redeemer Family.

I am so proud of all of the children here at Our Redeemer. It is such a pleasure watchingthem grow and change. The staff and parents have been so supportive and I thank you! Iwish all a fun-filled, safe summer!
