The Workshops:

1. HOW organized a workshop entitled "the

Way to National Reconciliation"

4-1-2012, the House of Wisdom Institute (HOW) in

cooperation with the Palestinian Reconciliation

Committee organized a workshop entitled "The Way

to National Reconciliation", the guest of the workshop

was Dr. Nabeel Sha'at a member of Central

committee of the Fateh Movement. The workshop

was attended by members of HOW, members of the Palestinian Reconciliation

Committee along with a number of Politicians and heads of NGOs and human rights

centers directors.

At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Jamil Salama the Secretary of the Palestinian

Reconciliation Committee started the workshop welcoming the guests particularly Dr.

Sha'at who confirmed the importance of his visit to achieve progress in the National

Reconciliation file.

Dr. Nabeel Sha'at, in his turn, spoke on the importance of unification the Palestinians in

order to move forward with the Palestinian national liberation and the self-

determination. Dr. Sha'at spoke about his meetings with Hamas Leaders. Mr. Issam

Younis, a member of Palestinian Reconciliation Committee, spoke about the

committee's works and activities to reach reconciliation.

At the end of the workshop, the guests raised a number of questions on the issue of the

reconciliation and the Political Share between Hamas and Fateh.

2. Workshop on the Policies of Reforming the National Security Sector

29-2-2012, the House of Wisdom Institute for Conflict Resolution and Governance

organized a workshop on the Policies of reforming the National Security Sector; the

attendants of the workshop were members of Palestinian Reconciliation Committee,







members of the Diplomacy Club of the Institute

and interested persons in the National Security.

During the workshop, the attendants discussed

topics related to the National security Sector in

Palestine and the possibilities of its reforming in

the light of the Palestinian reconciliation. Also,

the attendants discussed some experiences of

countries in the field of the Reconciliation and

how it contributed to reforming the Security

Sector.

The Workshop discussed the mechanisms of setting hierarchies for the Security Sector

apparatuses in which to be under the supervision of the Parliament.

3. Workshop: The Money Crimes in

Palestine

5-3-2012, the House of Wisdom Institute for

conflict Resolution & Governance organized a

workshop entitled, "the Money Crimes in

Palestine", the Institute invited a number of

the concerned institutions as well as interested

persons to attend the workshop, and members

of the Parliament also attended the workshop.

During the workshop, certain topics were

discussed related to the issue of the money crimes, the role of the Official institutions to

fight these crimes were also discussed. At the end of the workshop, the

recommendations were announced and sent to the concerned official institutions to be

taken into consideration.







4. PYAN organizes a workshop with the

presence of the ICRC

3-6-2012, The Youth Advocacy team of the House of

Wisdom organized a workshop to identify the training needs

with the presence of representatives of the ICRC.

The PYAN members discussed with the ICRC the possibilities

of cooperation and providing the support to training courses

in the fields of interest to the ICRC such as Human Rights,

the International Humanitarian Law and the new media.

5. Workshop on the Phenomenon of Suicide in Palestine

24-9-2012, The Middle East Center for Studies (MECS) of the House of Wisdom Institute (HOW) organized a workshop on “the phenomenon of suicide in the society”, where all the speakers of the workshop confirmed that this phenomenon is strange in the Arab and Muslim world in general and particularly in Palestine, referring it to the western countries.

In his speech, Dr. Khalid Dahlan – psychologist – clarified that those who think to suicide are suffering some disorder and psychosis, and

confirmed on the importance to grow up the children correctly and normally, to keep them far from the parents’ disputes, and to give the women their rights.

MP Salem Salama – chairman of the Palestinian Muslim Scholars Association – said that those who think to suicide are traditional in their thinking, with a fancy they will become heroes like Mohammad Bo Azizi – a famous Tunisian suicide -. Dr. Salem Salama confirmed that the suicide is totally contrary to the teaching of Islam, and that the Palestinians are very well educated and able to overcome their ordeals.

Mr. Issam Younis – head of Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights – said that the society must adopt programs and finds ways to create jobs for the youths in order to keep them aware. At the end of the workshop, Mr. Mohammad Abu Sa’da – from the MECS – read the recommendation of the workshop:

1- For the Media, it must be accurate in their news about the suicide cases. 2- Spreading the awareness through seminars and breaches. 3- Growing up the children in suitable environment far from the disputes. 4- To keep distance from the rumors.

6. Workshop on the Charity organizations in Palestine

17-10-2012, the House of Wisdom Institute organized a workshop to discuss the outcomes of a research entitled “The Charity organizations in the Palestinian territories”, conducted by two Swiss researchers Emanuel Schaeublin and Owen Frazer. The Institute invited representatives of the Charity organizations and NGOs and representatives of the government.

The Research handled the issue of removing the unjustified obstacles facing the charity work; the research also defined the challenges facing the charity work.

The workshop discussed the recommendations of the research represented in avoiding the Charity organizations from being under Political or factional disputes and to reach the high level of independency.

7. HOW organizes a workshop on “Political Islam & the US Administration”

20-10-2012, with the presence of the American Jewish thinker Noam Chomsky, the House of Wisdom Institute organized a workshop entitled “Political Islam and the US Administration”. The Institute invited Politicians and journalists.

Noam Chomsky described the Israeli siege on Gaza as a criminal act, considering the Gaza as the biggest open siege; he also criticized the Israeli Policy committed against the Palestinians.

In his speech on the US policy, Chomsky said that all dictatorships and the big countries have the same policy, in which they depend on the common interests, and that any country serves their interest, they will deal with it even if it is an Islamist government.

Chomsky said, the US will accept dealing with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, if it finds its interest there… because the US is not concerned with the religious clashes but with its interests.

8. HOW organized a workshop entitled: “after

the aggression: the Reconciliation to where?”

29-11-2012, the House of Wisdom Institute (HOW) organized a workshop entitled, “after the aggression: the Reconciliation to where?”. The Speakers of the workshop were Dr. Ibrahim Abrash Lecturer of Political Science, Dr. Yahiya Musa MP from the Hamas Movement and Mr. Kayed Al-Ghoul from the Popular front movement. The Institute invited Politicians and academics to attend the workshop.

Mr. Kayed Al-Ghoul began the talk at the workshop condemning some of the articles stated in the truce agreement between Hamas and Israel, and said that Israel began the aggression and therefore it should stop its aggression and not to be reciprocal. Mr. Kayed said Hamas won the battle but not politically, and expressed his concern that the current truce might be a final status border for the Palestinian State.

Dr. Yahiya Musa spoke on the reconciliation, that it is not something new, because already the programs of Hamas and Fateh movements are different, and this difference were reflected after the signing of the Oslo agreement.

While Dr. Ibrahim Abrash mentioned that Hamas and the Oslo agreement played a role in the failing of the Palestinian national project, through marginalizing the PLO by Hamas and the endless negotiation process the Fateh movement is fulfilling.

At the end of the workshop, the speakers confirmed on the necessity to achieve the reconciliation where it can save what can be saved from the Palestinian national project and enhance the capabilities of the resistance.

The Seminars

1. The House of Wisdom organized a

Seminar "The Reconciliation & the

Truth"

8-1-2012, the Diplomacy Club of the House of Wisdom

(HOW) organized a seminar entitled "The

Reconciliation & Truth", in which a number of

Politicians and intellectuals participated and attended

the seminar.

Dr. Ahmed Yousef, the Head of the Board of Trustees

of HOW, spoke on the importance to seize the fruit of the Arab Spring and to agree on a

national strategy which unifies the Palestinians and to confront the occupation with unity.

Mr. Khaleel Abu Shammala, Director of Adameer center for Human Rights, spoke on the

reconciliation, and to let the people observe the committees formed between Hamas and

Fateh to pave the way for the reconciliation. Dr. Ibrahim Abrash, Lecturer of Political

Science, emphasized the need to set a unified Palestinian vision, and that the reconciliation

must be directed for rebuilding the national Palestinian strategy.

Dr. Osama Al-Farra, member of the Fateh revolutionary Council, said that it is possible for

the Palestinian society to reclaim the state of harmony; Dr. Osama spoke about experiences

of some countries in the reconciliation process. Mr. Sami Al-Astal, member of Diplomacy

Club, spoke on the peaceful resistance as a base for ending the political problems.







2. HOW conducts a seminar with the

presence of a European Youth delegation

1-4-2012, the House of Wisdom Institute

for conflict Resolution & Governance

organized a seminar on "Deepening the

awareness of the Palestinian Cause" with

the presence of a European Youth

delegation from the UK and Ireland, a

number of the Board of Trustees members

attended the seminar such as Dr. Ghazi Hamad, Dr. Husam Adwan and Dr. Hani Al-

Basoos, the PYAN youth advocacy team of the House of Wisdom attended the seminar.

At the beginning of the seminar, Dr. Ghazi Hamad spoke on the Palestinian internal

situation and its impact on the image of the Palestinian struggle, mentioning the

importance of the reconciliation to keep the bright image of the Palestinians seeking for

freedom and independence.

In the same vein, Dr. Husam Adwan spoke about the impact of the siege on the

Palestinians living in Gaza and their obstacles to convey the Palestinian image to the

world. Mr. Gerry MacLochlainn the head of the delegation spoke on the appreciation

and respect of the Irish people to the Palestinians, Mr. Jerry praised the House of

Wisdom mission in conveying the true image of the Palestinians worldwide.

At the end of the seminar, a number of students confirmed their intention to speak in

British and Irish Universities about the siege and the Occupation.

3. HOW executes a Seminar on increasing the

awareness of the Palestinian Cause

17-4-2012, the House of Wisdom Institute (HOW)

organized a seminar entitled "Increasing the

Awareness of the Palestinian Cause" in the present

of a Bahraini Youth Solidarity delegation, members

of the Board of Trustees and the members of the PYAN youth team of HOW also

attended the seminar.

Dr. Ahmed Yousef the Head of the Board of Trustees at HOW opened the seminar

welcoming the guests, and spoke on the important role of the solidarity delegations to

convey the true situation of the Palestinians in international activities.

From his side, Mr. Ibraheem AbdelRaheem the head of the Bahrain delegation

emphasized the role of the Youth in the Kingdom of Bahrain in increasing the awareness

of the Palestinian cause mentioning several activities executed on the Palestinian cause,

and confirmed on the social media as a tool used to advocate the Palestinian cause.

4. The Middle East Center organized a Seminar

28-4-2012, the Middle East Center for the Regional

Studies of the House of Wisdom Institute organized

a political seminar entitled "the Palestinian National

Security...

its Internal & External Threats"; the attendants of

the seminar were members of the center from the

Palestinian universities as well as members of the

Board of Trustees of the House of Wisdom.

At the beginning speech, Dr. Ahmed Yousef the

Head of the Board of Trustees of the Institute

welcomed the attendants appreciating their interest

in the topic, and spoke briefly on the Palestinian National Security, and then Mr. Eyad Al-

Qatrawi - acting as Director of the Center - introduced the Center to the attendants speaking

on it mission and the role the Center is seeking to achieve in the Palestinian society.

After that, Mr. Mohammad Abu-Sa'da – acting as the Center Program Manager - began the

seminar on the topic mentioning the threats of the Palestinian National security are facing like

the division as one of the most dangerous internal threat to the Palestinian National Security.

At the end of the seminar, the Center distributed applications of adherence to new members.

5. Seminar entitled "The Palestinian

Reconciliation, Where to?"

5-5-2012, the Middle East Center for Studies of the House of Wisdom Institute executed a seminar entitled "The Palestinian Reconciliation, Where to?", the guest of the seminar was Dr. Ahmed Yousef and the attendants were students of Political science from the Palestinian Universities.

Mr. Mohammad Abu Sa'da from the Middle East Center began the seminar emphasizing the importance of the reconciliation in particular in the light of the difficult situation the Palestinian cause is facing such the Settlements, the situation of the Prisoners in the Occupation jails and the expropriating of lands in Jerusalem…etc.

From his side, Dr. Ahmed Yousef spoke on the importance of achieving the reconciliation expecting that it will be achieved within the next three weeks, Dr. Ahmed mentioned that the delay of the reconciliation was because of the internal situation in Egypt and the business of Hamas in its internal elections.

6. HOW executes a Seminar “The Arab Peace Initiative: between its

Extinction & Staying”

1-7-2012, The House of Wisdom Institute for conflict Resolution & Governance in cooperation with the Center for Democracy & Community Development in Jerusalem, organized a Seminar entitled “The Arab Peace Initiative: between its Extinction & Staying”.

The first speaker of the seminar was Dr. Jamil Salama who spoke about the motives of the Saudi Kingdom to propose such initiative, and the main points mentioned in it which was the confirm on the UN resolution 242 and 338, while the Initiative

excluded the resolution 194 speaking on the compensation and return of the Palestinian refugees, Dr. Jamil said.

In the second interposition, Mr. Mohammad Abu Sa’da spoke about the Israeli refusal position, and the inability of the Arabs to impose such initiative. Mr. Ali Abu Shahla raised the question whether it vanished or still alive, where some Arab leaders still mention it in their speeches as a reference to the Peace.

At the end of the seminar, some attendees gave their opinions in the Initiative, one of them said how it is useless to rethink about such Initiative which were ignored and refused from the very beginning from the Israeli government and society as well.

7. Seminar: entitled “The Insecurity in Sinai between the negligence & Planning”

8-8-2012, with the presence of a number of Politicians and Journalists, the Middle East Center for Studies (MECS) of the House of Wisdom organized a seminar entitled “The Insecurity in Sinai between the negligence & Planning”. The Speakers of the Seminar were Dr. Ghazi Hamad deputy Minister of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and Dr. Ibrahim Habib an expert in the National Security.

Mohammad Abu Sa’da – from the MECS – began the Seminar by a briefing on the reasons of the insecurity in Sinai, caused by the defects of Camp David Agreement, the

ignoring policy of the people of Sinai during the past regime, and the Israelis who have free entrance to Sinai without a VISA or Permission.

Dr. Ibrahim Habib said that the terrorist attack will have repercussions on the Gaza Strip from all aspects politically, economically and socially. From his side, Dr. Ghazi Hamad who condemned the terrorist attack said that the Palestinian Government won’t allow the existence of any extremist groups on its ground, and confirmed that Palestine is meant to the stability of Egypt especially Sinai. Dr. Ghazi said that there are contacts with the Egyptian authority.







At the end, Dr. Ghazi calls upon the Egyptian authority to quickly reopen the Rafah crossing, and emphasized on the importance of achieving the reconciliation in order to concentrate on confronting the occupier.

8. HOW organizes a seminar on the possibilities of attacking Iran

12-8-2012, The Middle East Center for Studies (MECS) of the House of Wisdom Institute organized a seminar entitled “The Possibilities of Attacking Iran & its Repercussions on the Palestinian Cause”, the attendance of seminar were students and Political analysts.

At the beginning of the Seminar, Mr. Akram Atallah clarified that the Israeli justifications for attacking Iran is to keep itself the super power in the region, while Mr. Mohammad Abu Sa’da from MECS talk about the American position on targeting Iran saying that the bad conditions of the USA in Afghanistan and Iraq make it hesitant for such attack.

At the end of the Seminar, Dr. Adnan Abu Amer the Political Analyst said that the Palestinian resistance won’t be part of such war because of its destructive consequences on the region.

9. HOW executes a Seminar on the Changes in the Arab region from western

perspective

3-9-2012, with the presence of Academics and Political analysts The Middle East Center for Studies (MECS) of the House of Wisdom Institute HOW organized a seminar entitled “The Political Changes in the Arab region and its impact on the Palestinian cause – from a western perspective”.

Dr. Ahmed Yousef – head of board of trustees of HOW - began the discussion by welcoming the guests and spoke about the presence of Palestine in all the countries of the Arab Spring. From his side, Mr. Jeremy







Greenstock said that the situation resulted from the Arab Spring is for the good of the Palestinian cause especially in Egypt, and that the Palestinians must seize the opportunity to end the Palestinian division.

Mr. Jeremy said that the western governments are to some extent upset of the Netanyahu government in the light of its hindrances and obstacles against the Palestinian. On the Syrian situation Mr. Jeremy said that the Syrian political system is strong and supported by Russia and Iran and on the other side still the opposition is unable to unite under one front.

10. Seminar entitled “My Media experience”

8-10-2012, the Palestinian Media Students Union in cooperation with the House of Wisdom Institute organized a seminar on Dr. Azzam Al-Tamimi’s media experience during his visit to Palestine. The Union invited the media students in the Palestinian Universities to attend the seminar.

In his speech, Dr. Azzam Al-Tamimi -who is running a london based think tank - spoke about his experience in Al-Hiwar Channel where he tackled the Arab issues.

Dr. Azzam Al-Tamimi spoke about the problems and crisis of the Arab media generally and the problems of the Palestinian media particularly, and said, “for example most of the Arab media antagonize the Western World while in fact it is only small percentage of Westerners that antagonize”.

Dr. Azzam Al-Tamimi emphasized on the importance of being professional in the field of Media where it can contribute to conveying the real and true image on the Palestinians and Arabs as well.

11. HOW organizes a seminar on the

Israeli internal situation

3-11-2012, The House of Wisdom Institute in cooperation with the Palestinian Media Students Union organized a seminar entitled “the Israeli Situation: the Political alliances and







the Military escalation”, the attendees of the seminar were Political analysts, interested persons in the Israeli affairs and the students of Media.

The speakers of the seminar were Dr. Sofian Abu Zayda member of the Fateh Revolutionary Council, Dr. Saleh Al-Na’ami and Mr. Talal Awkal the specialist in the Israeli affairs.

Dr. Sofian said that the time of the Israeli elections is very sensitive, and that Israel will response aggressively to any Rocket fired from Gaza, calling upon factions to control their actions.

While Dr. Saleh Al-Na’ami said that Israel won’t launch a military aggression against Gaza because of the absence of the Military solution for the Rockets fired from Gaza, because of the change in the Arab World, and their focus on the Iranian nuclear file.

12. HOW organized a seminar in the presence of Dr. Abdul Haleem Zaidan

20-12-2012, the House of Wisdom Institute in cooperation with Peace & Development for the Palestinians Foundation organized a seminar entitled “Developing the NGOs to be fit for the Future”, in which a number interested persons in the development field attended the seminar.

During the seminar, the speakers spoke on the conceptions of development, its durability and its effect on the future.

The guest of the seminar was Dr. Abdul Haleem Zaidan Head of the Institute of Global Development programs said that the social partnership and its development needs clear visions and the good hierarchal foundations, and to be linked with the political form which is different from country to another.

Dr. Zaidan said that the achievement of development in the third world is very weak according the UN statistics, noting that real development planning for the future needs do put certain alternatives in order to manage the problems of the current and the future.







The Training Courses

1. PYAN ends a Training Course on

"Effective Leadership Skills"

15-2-2012, the Palestinian Youth Advocacy

Network (PYAN) of the House of Wisdom

ended on the 15th of February a training

course entitled "Effective Leadership Skills",

with participation of 12 youths from PYAN.

The course aimed to develop the abilities of

the PYAN's members with leadership skills, the

Trainer of the Course was Ms. Maysam the Leader of PYAN, after her training in the UK. The

course included topics such as Communication skills, the art of discourse and etc, at the end

of the course, the Institute presented certificates on the attendees.

2. Training Course entitled "The Definition of the National Security Sector in its

Comprehensive concept"

1-3-2012, the House of Wisdom Institute for Conflict

Resolution &Governance organized a training course

entitled "The Definition of the National Security Sector in

its Comprehensive concept", and was conducted on 6

hours. The target group was students of Master in the

field of Politics as well as interested persons in the

Security sector.

During the Course, the trainer presented the concept of

the National Security Sector in its modern and comprehensive definition. The trainees were divided

into groups and each group was asked to present its understanding of the National Security Sector.

Besides, the training course included a number of topics related to the National Security Sector and

the mechanisms of its observation.

At the end of the course, the Institute distributed a number of publications related to the National

Security Sector.

3. Training Course on Strategies of the National Security

4-5/4/2012, the House of Wisdom Institute for Conflict

Resolution & Governance organized a training course

entitled "The Strategies of the National Security & the

Good Governance", the trainees were employees from

the Government sector, and was conducted on 16 hours

within two days.

The Training Course discussed several topics related to

the Good governance and the Planning of the Strategies

for the National Security. The trainees were divided into

groups and each group discussed certain ideas in order to

come with common ideas between the groups as priorities for the Palestinian National

security. At the end of the training Course the Institute distributed certificates for the

trainees.

4. HOW organized a Diploma Training Program entitled: “The Good Governance in

the Security Sector”

20-6-2012, The House of Wisdom Institute for Conflict Resolution &Governance began a program of a Training Diploma entitled “The Good Governance in the Security Sector”, the Program extended for 96 hours and included topics such as the Understanding of the Security Sector, its observation and its reform, also, the program included the principles of the

Good governance and the International criteria for the Security Sector reform.

The participants of the program are employees representing the NGOs, and the program is conducted by expert trainers in the field of security sector. The training program ended at the end of December and the trainees were awarded the certificates of participating.

Publications of HOW in cooperation with other NGOs

Since its establishment, the House of Wisdom Institute signed agreements of

cooperation with a number of NGOs and INGOs for the purpose of executing activities of

common interest. The main activities addressed the issue of the Security Sector Reform

- SSR & the Good Governance in the Gaza Strip; these activities were training courses &

workshops.

Besides, the Institute published a number of books in cooperation with the NGOs with

titles related to the SSR & Good Governance, the target group of distributing these

books were Government Officials, Police Commanders, Politicians, MPs, Intellectuals,

and NGOs & INGOs operating in Gaza, Human Rights centers, Academics, Jurists and

finally Students.

"As we knew them": In September 2012, the Institute published the first book of the

series of Alive & Martyrs; the book is written by Dr. Ahmed Yousef and introduced by Dr.

Aziz Dweik.

Inauguration of the Middle East for Center for Strategic Studies

2-4-2012, with the attendance of a number of

Politicians and Academic figures, the House of

Wisdom Institute for Conflict Resolution &

Governance inaugurated the Middle East Center for

Strategic Studies as a branch for the scientific

researches and studies, Dr. Ahmed Yousef the head

of the Board of Trustees spoke at the inauguration

ceremony, emphasizing the importance of such

think tanks in providing the decision makers with the

recommendations. Dr. Yousef added that he will

work to support the center.

From his side, Mr. Mohammad Abu Sa'da – acting as the Director of the Center – said that

the center will be ready for assisting the government as well as the decision makers with the

needed recommendations.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Adnan Abu Amer – from the Umma University – spoke on

the importance of supporting such centers which provides studies and recommendations to

the decision makers in all countries.

HOW awards convoy members honorary

organized an honorary ceremony for the participants of

the Miles of Smiles 11 youth convoy; the guests of the

ceremony were Dr. Issam Yousef the Coordinator

General of the Miles of Smiles convoys, Eng. Mahmoud

The ceremony began with a speech by Eng. Mahmoud then followed by Dr. Issam Yousef

who spoke about the convoys to break the siege imposed on Gaza.

Through the telephone, Sheikh Ihsan Hendricks Chairman of Alqsa Foundation in South

Africa participated in the ceremony, and confirmed the continued effort from South Africa

Muslim community to keep supporting the Palestinians.

At the end of the ceremony, the House of Wisdom and the Partners for Peace &

Development Foundation awarded the Convoy members certificates of a Palestinian

Honorary Ambassador to advocate the Palestinian people in the activities and gatherings

they participate.
