The celebration of Mary provides us an opportunity for us to continue to reflect on the love that existed between Christ and his mother and the hope of eternal reward that was afforded Mary exists for each of us. This feast allows us a chance to celebrate the love of family life, for those of us who have been richly blessed and for those who yearn for richer family relationships we pray especially during this feast. Dear Parents,

In the Catholic tradition yesterday was the feast of the Assumption of Mary. So, what is the feast of the Assumption? For Catholics, Mary holds a special place. She was the mother of Jesus and she was called specifically by God for this role. The Feast of the Assumption marks the end of her earthly journey, with the belief that she was assumed body and soul into heaven. For us, the Assumption marks an opportunity to celebrate the part that women play in our life. In Church life there are many challenges in appropriately acknowledging the contribution that women make to our tradition.

We, as a whole school, celebrated the feast of the Assumption of Mary with Ss Michael and John’s at Mass yesterday.

PREPARING OUR YEAR 12 STUDENTS

Next week our Year 12 students will be attending an English Revision lecture in preparation for their English examination. This highlights the fact that the final examinations will soon be upon our Year 12 students and that rigorous and diligent study routines should now be implemented at home.

There are only eight weeks of formal Year 12 classes left. Students will have the opportunity to undertake trial examinations during the coming school holidays. All in all, our Year 12 students are very fortunate to have a dedicated team of VCE teachers, willing to assist them in any way possible to be well prepared for the forthcoming examinations.

In return I hope that our students will:

Make the most of the extra classes being offered

Attend all scheduled practice exams

Ask their teachers for assistance

Commence an extensive study and revision program

Review their commitments outside of school to ensure that study is now the main priority

Make some sensible choices in terms of social activities, especially on weekends.

To do all of the above our students will require the support, guidance and wisdom of parents. Now is the time for both parents and students to agree to some guidelines for the coming weeks. I look forward to celebrating the success of our students in early December.

project are fully tax deductible!

featured on a picket.

Picket donation levels are as follows (remember, these are fully tax

deductible);

*Please bring your child's device with you so that you can log in to the Parent Portal on our school network during the event.

The St Brigid’s Year 7&8 Team played 7 games today at Netball Victoria’s All Schools Championship in Bendigo. Each game consisted of 2 x 9 minute halves, with a very quick change over at half time. First up was a draw, 11 all, against Bendigo South East College.

In the second game St Bs trounced Pyramid Hill 29-2.

The third round of competition was another one sided affair against St Joseph’s Echuca Green with our girls winning 16 - 4.

In round 4 the girls again performed well to defeat Cohuna Secondary College 21 - 4

The girls had to stand up strong against Deniliquin Secondary College to finish with the win 16 - 10.

Against Moama Anglican College the St Bs girls played some terrific pas-sages of netball and came away with another win 16 - 8.

This meant to win the day and progress to the next stage of NV All Schools Championships the girls had to win their final game against St Joseph’s Echuca White. Unfortunately the girls started a little sluggish and let the opposition get away in the first half.

In the second half the girls fought hard to get back in the game. St Bs went down 18 - 14.

The girls should be proud of their efforts - they are a good little unit and played some great netball. Well done girls, you are all fine ambassadors of our school.

The team Back L-R Georgia Baker-Miller, Rylee Hateley, Anna Sudholz and Tahni Scrimizzi

Front L-R Lotus Martin, Mia McGrath, Eloise Wills, Kayla Kelm and Grace Manserra

A huge thank you to Mrs Emelia Sudholz who was our parent volunteer/scorer and to Jayde Ellis from Horsham College who was our badged umpire for the day.

SPORTS NEWS

Our school is supporting the Dignity Drive in August. There are women that are homeless, escaping domestic violence or in poverty and need our help. For this month, the organisation is asking if people could donate sanitary items to the pink box at the front of our school. They are appreciative of donations of sanitary pads and tampons, which they will collect and distribute.

‘Thank you for helping us Share the Dignity’, for further information please go to www.sharethedignity.com.au
