BULL CREEK PRIMARY SCHOOL

Once upon a time… there were 25 delightful Year Ones from Wattle 7. The Year

Ones, dressed in magnificent fairy tale costumes, were waiting on stage ready to perform the very entertaining “Each Peach Pear Plum” and the even more hilarious “Pretending Song”,

when the dastardly, evil and surprisingly beautiful MultiCOWtural decided she wanted to be in the performance. Of course this was a problem as MultiCOWtural is not a fairy tale creature and is quite poor at singing and dancing, unlike

the extremely talented Year Ones from Wattle 7. Thank goodness Little Bo Peep and Jack and Jill saved the day and let MultiCOWtural graze on their hill. MultiCOWtural and all of

the Year Ones were very excited to be performing in front of the school, and with no more problems to solve

...they lived happily ever after narrative by the children of Wattle 7

I spy Multi COWtural!

Bull Creek Primary School

From the Principal’s Desk

Cheque for $20,000.00 On behalf of everyone I would like to thank our Parents and Citizens Association for their very generous donation of twenty thousand dollars for the school’s computing program. During 2013 a total of fifty thousand dollars will be spent on the purchase of new computers and various software costs. The money from the P&C has come from a combination of fundraising events during 2012 and from Terms 1 and 2 this year. I am very confident that, as a school, we are easily in the top quarter of the best resourced primary schools. Thank you again to everyone in the P&C and those parents who have financially supported the many P&C projects. Our New Soccer Goals

The younger children are enjoying using these painted goals as their soccer target. They are providing the children with lots of fun and some friendly rivalry. I would again like to thank our generous sponsors:

Bunnings- High Road, Willetton Harcourts - Parry Avenue Shopping Centre

Definition Health Club - Bull Creek Cartridge World - Parry Avenue Shopping Centre

Bull Creek Chinese Restaurant - Parry Avenue Shopping Centre More Fantastic Items From Our Youngest Students Last Friday Ms Francis’ Year 1 class sang two song- “Each Peach Pear Plum” and “The Pretending Song”. The theme of the “show” was Fairy Tales. The songs were so entertaining and the girls and boys played and spoke their parts very well. The costumes were unbelievably good and the setting was very artistic indeed. The proud parents had their cameras flashing furiously - it was a wonderful assembly! Lantern Walk As part of our German program Frau Colgan has organised our annual Lantern Walk. This year was the seventh year in a row the Walk has been done. The Lantern Walk commemorates Germany’s St Martin who, according to folklore, tore his cloak in two halves and gave one half to a beggar which ultimately saved his life in a snow storm. The children walked with their home-made lanterns to the Rotunda in John Creaney Park. On their return to school some of the parents had prepared a warm drink and some snacks for the excited lantern walkers. Tim Cremin

planned but will now take place during

Week 5, Term 4.

The Multicultural Assembly will be held on

Friday 15th November!

Stay tuned for more details…..

A BIG thank you to the P&C and everyone who helped making the Laternenlauf such a great success. A very special thank you to the Caspelherr family for organising all the food and drinks. We sold about 100 Kartoffelpuffer and 121 of Glühwein. The P&C raised $113. We hope to see many of you there again next year.

Thanks to Mrs Sumastra, (incursion officer) for helping to organise “Tales With a Twist”. The kids had a great time at both sessions. They loved the puppets and picked up a few new German words. Language Perfect has been running very successfully in the year 4/5 classes since the beginning of the year. If you are interested to jump on board and want to enjoy the benefits of using this computer program for the rest of the year, now is the time. For just $15 you can sign up and learn German and a lot of other languages. A lot of competitions and great prizes keep the interest and motivation of the kids in learning a language. This offer is open to every student from Year 4 to Year 7. If you have any questions please feel free to see me. “Research carried out by a team from the University of Canterbury and Massey University has revealed that student teachers think Language Perfect is the most helpful tool for learning another language.“Read the full article here!

BUNNINGS BBQ

Fantastic early response from the parents regarding the upcoming Bunnings BBQ on the 14th September. Thank you so much to the following volunteers so far: Jamie Dickson, Celia, Vynka, Sam Stokes, Kym Buchanan, Tammie Cartwright, Sara Candilo and Mania Crown. This leaves only four spots to fill so if anyone of the 600 odd parents left can spare two hours only on Saturday Sept. 14th then I know your children will really appreciate the ongoing benefits supplied by the P&C. Please call or text me on 0414 577 792 or email on [email protected]. If you are time poor then please feel free to leave a donation of either cool drink (Coke, Diet Coke, Lemonade, Orange, Lemon or Water), napkins or sauce at the office. The less the P&C spend on these items the more profit for the students. Looking forward to the next round of volunteers. Cheers, Chris Patman Vice President P&C
