Health and PE - Mr. Williams

I have already started administering the physical portion of the final. This is the same assessment that the students did at the beginning of the year. So far the results have been amazing! Out of the 5 people that already finished the test, every single one of them improved in EVERY category. Combined the 5

students were able to do 120 more push-ups, 113 more sit-ups, and shaved

6:29 off the run. These results show the improvement the students have made this year. If everyone gives an honest effort, I expect this trend to continue.  The students have worked extremely hard this year and this assessment is proving that hard work pays off.

Language Arts - Ms. Dykes

This week in Language Arts we will be reviewing different types of essays. Students will be reviewing introductory paragraphs and the necessary information that well-written paragraphs should contain. Students will also be doing some peer editing of paragraphs. Students will have time this week to begin their persuasive essays for the "Plan my Summer Vacation" project.

THIS WEEK

Reading - Ms. Chase

I hope everyone attending the Georgia Field Trip has a great time, those of you staying back will be spending the week working in groups on a Webquest project in Reading Class. I will be passing out directions on Monday, but we will be using the Mac Airs and google docs to complete these Webquest projects. The directions are also posted on my website under the "Homework and Handouts" tab.

This week you have a break from homework but if you would like to do a make up reading log to make up for a zero or an extra credit reading log if you have done all of them, you can get one from me on Monday. Reading logs are due this Monday.

Don't forget, the first part of your Reading Final Exam is a take home portion. This part of your final is due the day of your in-class exam, May 31st.

Science - Ms. Homan

Hello Families!

This week the students will be working on their Hurricane project. Only four requirements are left – the presentation (powerpoint, keynote, prezi, etc), the reading responses, the vocabulary foldable, and the graphs. Due to the Georgia trip, I will not be in class and students will be given time in other classes to complete the project. Students attending the Georgia trip will still need to have their presentation ready to go on Tuesday the 29th. (I’ve reminded them of this for weeks!). The only homework students have for the rest of the year is to study for the final exam that will be on June 1st. Have a great week!

THIS WEEK

Math - Mrs. Gardana Math Curse Projects are due May

24th, they should be completed with introduction, transitions between the problems, problems should cover required concepts, and each problem should be illustrated (computer images/clip art or hand drawn). The “story” can be typed or hand-written. Only one problem per page with illustration and a cover page. The project should be more than 10 pages. Remember this project counts as a test grade. Please check on my teacher page, under useful links, for an example of a completed project and the rubric. We

will also be working on the study guides as well.

7th: We will be learning about measures of variation and plotting data on a stem and leaf plot.

8th: Students will choose a project from 4 options and will work on it in class - they will need to make use of their time, or they will have to work on it at home. This will count as a test grade.

**Math Final - all classes May 30th
