TIME FOR A BREAK….. Given the way the flu has ripped through the school over the past two weeks it is certainly time for a break. Entire families have been knocked flat with the current strain sweeping the community. On behalf of the entire staff I would like to thank all our parents and caregivers for the continued support you give us. Your positive energy and enthusiasm are hallmarks of what Matahui School such a wonderful environment in which to work. We wish you all a relaxing, enjoyable, fun filled, flu free holiday and look forward to seeing you all in fine health at the start of Term 3. Lastly, a couple of dad-style jokes all the Matahui males can use over again in the holidays when there is a need for levity……..we are good at providing levity are dads……. “I read six pages of the dictionary last night. I learned next to nothing.” A 13 year old weasel walks into a bar and approaches the counter. The bartender immediately notices he is underage. "Sir, you look extremely young. I can't serve you even a single beer." "Oh c'mon," complained the weasel. "You can't just slide me one?" "Can't and will not serve to anyone under age," replied the bartender. "Fine. Well what other things do you have?" the weasel asked. "Well for non-alcoholic drinks, I have tap water and bottled water, I have coffee, and I have pop. Which would you like?" "Pop." Goes the weasel. Ka kite Max

GOLD LEADERSHIP PROJECT: GARAGE SALE Hi Matahui families. I am Zoe Tod and I am in Year 8. I have decided as part of my Gold Leadership Project to accept the responsibility for holding a garage sale to raise funds for the school. I would really love it if you have time in the holidays, to look out for any good quality items that you are happy to donate to the garage sale. Items I am looking for would be things like Clothes, Books, Toys, Sports Gear or any other items you may think of. I am looking to hold the Garage Sale at school in the first half of Term 3 and will provide you with more details at the beginning of next Term. Thank you for your support, Zoe
