Where Are the Green Jobs? With all of the talk these days about “green jobs”, this seems like a silly question. It is very relevant however to those of us involved in the greenest industry in the world! Sadly, the national media often overlooks farmers, horticulturists, individual homeowners and property owners, all of whom contribute to the well being of our planet. Plant related jobs grow our food, produce fiber for clothing, and green the landscapes of our cities and parks. Persons involved in these jobs provide and maintain that protective environment that allow birds to nest, earthworms to thrive, and in general, nature to do what it does best…take care of itself. These jobs already exist and need to be publicized! Right now there is a national push on through the USDA to expand the sales of locally grown produce by extending the growing season using high tunnels. Also, the state of Maryland has an ongoing program this year called Marylanders Plant Trees. We are a participating garden center and have coupons that will save the homeowner $25 on a tree worth $50 or more. Do your part in the “green jobs” movement…contribute to the greening of the earth by supporting a green job that already is present and thriving!

Forward this newsletter to your contacts that share a passion for nature and a desire to help it thrive!

This spring we will be expanding our production of organically grown produce. We will be starting here in Cecilton by planting herbs in the greenhouse in February and spring greens in the ground in early March. Later in the season we’ll be starting at a second location in the Middletown area where we’ll have a produce market. Watch for this as spring approaches!

Thanks for shopping with us,

your family owned garden center.
