THE OPENING OFTUN RAZAK LINKALTERNATIVEROUTEOn the 23 May 2017, Works Minister of Malaysia, YB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof made a site visit to Duta – Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) Phase 2 project site to review the traffic management planning scheme at Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Pahang. Works on improvement and resurfacing of the road at Jalan Pahang was implemented on 23 May 2017 by the concessionaire, Konsortium Lebuhraya Utara-Timur (KL) Sdn. Bhd (KESTURI). As part of the traffic management plan, KESTURI had paved the roads to help traffic diversions during the month of Ramadhan.

The routes that take up half of Tun Razak Link is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in Jalan Pahang by connecting Jalan Tun Razak (traffic from east and west) to the existing DUKE Highway heading towards the Jalan Duta and Karak at the Sentul Pasar interchange. This route will also provide an alternative to vehicles from Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Pahang to continue into the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and the Kuala Lumpur – Karak Highway from DUKE. II. With Tun Razak Link as an alternative, this route can be used as an emergency route for ambulances from Hospital Kuala Lumpur, it can save the travel time and avoid congestion on existing roads. The alternative routes was opened to public on 23 May 2017 from 8.00 pm.

Setiawangsa-Pantai ExpresswayConstruction ProgressFurther to the signing of the concession agreement of DUKE3 early 2016 and the financial close in the 3rd quarter of 2016, the construction work for the sub-structure has been progressing at site with a total of 284 piles, 45 pile caps and 18 columns completed (as of 26th May 2017).

DesignEkovest has always been open for new technical solutions for bridges and are exploring the option of introducing BH Girders to Malaysia via this project. These BH Girders, patented in South Korea with an optimised prestressing design can span up to 60 m, reduces the number of piers required and also the construction period. Currently, the design team is in the process of completing the detailed design for a few selected stretches in DUKE3.

SustainabilityIn addition, Ekovest is collaborating with CIDB’s sustainable unit, MAMPAN using DUKE3 as a pilot project to do a CEEQUAL assessment. CEEQUAL is a sustainability assessment, rating and awards scheme that is developed in UK, used worldwide including regions such as Scandinavia, Middle East and Asia. Projects are usually assessed for the whole life cycle, taking into consideration the client, designer and contractor’s role. Through this assessment, Ekovest has been recognised for their sustainability performances in the planning and design process of DUKE3.CommunityThe community have been continuously engaged, from the pre-approval stage up until today. Recent engagements have been done with communities such as Alpha Villa Condominium, Gurdwara Sahib Kampung Pandan, etc. Ekovest firmly believes with these engagement efforts, confidence and trust can be gained amongst the community.……. The project of ROL River Beautification Precinct 7 on April 15, 2017 marked its first completion zone by handing over the said completed area to the public. With the consent given by the Government, Masjid Jamek zone which has been closed for almost two years, is now open to the public. Now the locals as well as the visitors may experience the beautification works i.e. soft and hard landscaping works that have been carried out within the zone boundary. There were many positive reactions from the visitors when they entered the opened zone. The visitors were enlightened with the new look of Masjid Jamek especially the new greenery area, shades from the palm trees and the umbrella structures, benches, water features and etc. The visitors also did not missed the opportunity to take photos for their remembrance and memory. Besides Masjid Jamek zone, the area of Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad particularly the compound and pathway of the said building have been opened to the public to make way for the event of “Iftar @ KL” which was held on June 3, 2017.

For the completion of the remaining areas, it is targeted that the works shall be completed by July 31, 2017. As of June 2017, the overall completion was at 95.65% and Ekovest is full of enthusiasm in completing the works within the required completion date.

Further to the comments made by the Prime Minister during his visit to ROL River Beautification Precinct 7 on Feb 20, 2017, the Government has decided to transform

the rivers at the grand staircase of Masjid Jamek into blue-water rivers.

Ekovest as the main-contractor for the ROL project has put up a proposal to the Government and after a number of presentation and negotiation sessions were done, the Government vide a letter dated April 17, 2017 had finally accepted the proposal of Ekovest for the execution of “Kolam Biru” project located at the vicinity of ROL River Beautification Precinct 7 – Masjid Jamek Kuala Lumpur zone through design and build.

The total contract value for the said project is amounting RM 79 million and the work has started since April 18, 2017. As of June 2017, the progress of the project was at 46.22% and project is targeted to be completed by August 2017.

Ekovest Berhad held their annual Majlis Berbuka Puasa Event on 7 June 2017 at SMJKC Chong Hwa, Jalan Gombak to celebrate the month of Ramadhan.  The event was attended by over 1300 guests including employees, corporate clients, government agencies and 200 orphans, namely from Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni, Pertubuhan Kebajikan and Penjagaan Nur Hidayah, Rumah Bakti Nur Syaheera and Rumah Anak Yatim An Nur. The orphans, acknowledged as our guests of honour brought an added sentimental value to the occasion.

The event started with the recitation of doa by Ustaz Mohamad Noor Kamal bin Adam, Imam Rawatib at Masjid Saad Abu Waqqas. Sharing the barakah (blessings) of the holy month of Ramadhan with orphans, was one of the main objectives of the event.

This is the third time the company has held this annual event. The employees and management of Ekovest Berhad observe that this occasion proves to be very meaningful as a means to help the orphans and bring togetherness amongst the Ekovest community and workforce, especially during the Holy month of Ramadhan. The highlight of the night was the presentation of ‘Duit Raya’ to the orphans by our Guest of Honour. Upon receiving the early Raya treats, the children’s faces were beaming with joy and smiles as Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof, Minister of Works and Datuk Seri Lim Keng Cheng, Managing Director of Ekovest Berhad presented ‘Duit Raya’ to all the children.

During the Muslim’s Holy month of Ramadhan, good deeds should be done more than ever. It is our duty as a responsible organisation and citizen to believe in the spirit of sharing and caring. And when these orphans need more love and attention, this proved to be an opportune time to share that love and affection, and this was one of the few reasons why they were also invited to join in at the Ekovest Berhad Berbuka Puasa event. EKOVEST BERHAD RECENTLY WAS ANNOUNCED AS THE WINNER FOR THE BRANDLAUREATE CORPORATE & PRODUCT BRANDING AWARD UNDER THE PROPERTY CATEGORY. THE WINNERS OF THE BRANDLAUREATE BESTBRANDS AWARD 2016-2017 WERE ANNOUNCED BY THE ASIA PACIFIC BRANDS FOUNDATION (APBF) AT ITS GALA DINNER, HELD AT THE MAJESTIC HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR.

The prestigious Awards night was attended by Guest of Honor, Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Dato' Sri Haji Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the 5th Prime Minister of Malaysia and the newly appointed Patron of the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation. The dinner was also attended by 1,000 guests comprising corporate leaders, brand owners and leading personalities.

The theme for this year’s award is Take Responsibility of Your Brand for Your Brand Integrity, Quality, Credibility which is to encourage brands to take responsibility especially during this difficult and competitive time. Responsibility is the key word as it determines the success or failure of any brands. Consumers would only trust a brand that is responsible, one that has INTEGRITY and known for its QUALITY products and services. In today's world, where consumers are more affluent and fastidious, brands must have integrity and quality to build CREDIBILITY.

The success of the recipient is reflected in the trophy which is crafted in pewter and plated in 24K gold. The dimensions created by the polygons represent the movement of the brand as successful brands are dynamic and has a fluidity which allows them to move with time. Meanwhile, the image of the trophy with its clenched fist positioned at the heart signifies the commitment to responsibility and the determination to build the brand to its highest level.
