“I do FOH for bands like Dabu Fantastic, Halunke, Lo & Leduc, Manillio, Männer am Meer and the hole whole Glanton Gang. I am really happy about winning the AMS Neve preamp 88RLB.I’ve been thinking about whether I should use 500 series modules live, and a Neve preamp is still the best reason to start. So far my preamps were not so important, the sound of the concertconcert is always the combination of different factors such as PA, space, musicians, or preamps of the mixing desk, but I always use the console of the venue and so I don’t have the direct comparison if the preamps are good or bettecomparison if the preamps are good or better. But the 88RLB on my Money Channel compared to the preamps of the mixing desk is just crazy! The sound is very natural and I like the heights! The voice, from the beginning - even without EQ sounds really great! The preamp is now an inseparable part of my siderack and makes my job so much easier!”

Studio redesign, full refit and impressive new console keep the prestigious Tonmeister degree ahead of the game

“We wanted a console that was fantastic for music AND fantastic for film/tv...”

“The 88D is perfect for training our students.”

The new console is also linked to other studios and performance spaces in the custom-built PATS building, increasing the overall flexibility and learning opportunities while allowing the new facility to be used as part of the Institute of Sound Recording's research programmes in new three-dimensionalthree-dimensional audio reproduction techniques.

Dr Russell Mason, Tonmeister Programme Director, commented: “We wanted a console that was fantastic for music, fantastic for film/TV, and a great DAW (digital audio workstation) controller. The AMS-Neve 88D is perfect for training our students to work in the high-end studios and post-production facilitiesfacilities that they regularly find themselves."

The new facility will complement the existing PATS studio spaces and equipment, which include two other recording studios, three edit rooms, and an ITU-R BS1116 standard listening room. With both AMS-Neve and SSL desks now in place, Tonmeister students will gain regular and invaluable studio experience using equipment from the two most respected console manufacturers in the world.

generation to lose the easily accessible opportunity of getting a feel for, and gaining the great satisfaction and adventure of using computers to create technology as opposed to simply consuming content. Tomorrow’s engineers need hands-on experience inside the technology to be equipped to push forward the boundaries of engineeringengineering design, enabling Britain to continue to punch above its weight on the world stage in the years to come.” Kath Yates (Senior Tutor, Thomas Whitham) commented “These computers will be aninvaluable resource for our students for use both within the curriculum, and in extra-curricular activities.activities. The majority of our students have not had any opportunity to experiment with such technolo-gy and indeed have grown up with little experience of using construction and design toys. We are indebted to Mark Crabtree and AMS for their generosity and support.” Thomas Whitham’s students will also be supported in their projects by AMS Neve’s digital mixing console designers and invited to the Company’s R&D labs to see how embedded computing is applied in this exciting field. Consoles designed by AMS Neve engineers have provided the mixing tools used to create the best music and sound for most recent Oscar ® winning films – includingincluding ‘Avatar’, ‘Skyfall’ and “One Direction: This Is Us”.

BURNLEY, UK - The UK Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) joined forces with the wider engineering community to organise a week of activity which showcased all the exciting businesses and industries that rely on the work of creative engineers.engineers. ‘Tomorrow’s Engineers Week’ (4th – 8th November 2013) provided the opportunity for young people to discover the extraordinary range of possibilities a career in engineering can bring. AMS Neve Ltd - whose designs have won us and our engineers two Scientific and Technical Oscars®, Grammy® and Emmy® awards for advancing the art and science of sound - welcomed the opportunityopportunity to encourage youngsters into the very satisfying and creative career of engineering, through which they can shape how tomorrow’s world looks, sounds and works. In a bid to encourage young people to engage and experiment with computer technology, AMS Neve Ltd donated a set of ten Raspberry Pi computers, computers, plus the necessary screens and other peripherals, to Burnley’s Thomas Whitham Sixth Form for project use and experimentation by its students. The Raspberry Pi was created out of an initiative at Cambridge University Computer Laboratory and is a credit-card sized computer which can be interfacedinterfaced externally at a core level and is therefore a great training tool. Development of the RMX16 plug-in by AMS Neve is now complete and is in the beta testing phase. As soon as it passes the beta tests, the module will be released by Universal Audio through their normal channels. We have been amazed by the demand for the plug-in so far and are pleased to report the plug-in will not disappoint - it has been developed alongside the original hardware RMX16 to ensure the sound is as close to the original as possible.
