in classrooms, chat with friends/teachers/ parents.

9.00: Final bell. All students to

be seated, ready to start their day.

It important that all students are inclass, ready for learning by 9am.

Students who arrive late miss the

opportunity to catch up with friendsenter the classroom after the rollcall,

lunch-orders, and other dailyreminders; are late for specialist

classes; or miss vital instructions fora specific activity.

Here are some tips that might help:

    1. Rethink the meaning of "on

time. Help your childunderstand that they need to be

    organised.

    2. Understand the importance ofbeing on time. In the working

world, people need to be on time.

    3. Get enough sleep. If your child ishaving trouble getting out of bed

in the morning, then make aserious effort to get them to bed

earlier. Sufficient sleep isessential for maximum brain

    function.

    4. Give your child a realistic

amount of time to dress and

    groom.

    5. Encourage or help your child to

    have everything ready in their

    school bag, the night before.

    excursions and incursions which are

relevant to the topics being focussed

on and many other preparation tasks. The success of our planning week

rests heavily on the flexibilityshown by our specialist teachers.

Whilst it is a change in routine,

often our kids see it as a great day

having all their favourite specialistsactivities in one!!!

One of the areas that we continue to

excel in as a staff is the way in

which we plan and cater forstudents. This week is Planning

week where all levels have beengiven a full day to engage in

    planning. By having this structure

it allows our staff to develop a term

three overview, refine assessmentand portfolio tasks, organise

    Planning Week

    Are you having difficulty getting

your child to school by 9.00am? We

have noticed in the morning a

number of students arriving after thebell. From next term, we areintroducing a slightly different

format to the start of the day toensure that all students are seated ready to start the day from 9.00am

    sharp. The changes are:

8.50: The first bell will ring. Allstudents to enter classrooms,

    unpack bags, change readers etc.

    8.50 9.00: Students to remain

We realise it is only the start of June

but we have already received quite a

few enrolments for 2015. With toursconducted regularly and additional

inquiries, we appreciate the return ofenrolment forms as early in the year

    as possible.

opinion about how theyperformed. If your child is

putting in the required effort andtrying hard to improve in all

areas, then you cant ask for any

    more than that.

Do you hold the belief thatchildren learn at different rates?

Just as toddlers begin walkingand talking at different ages,school-aged children still

    progress through different

stages of development atdifferent rates. There are fast

trackers, late developers andsteady as you go students in all

classrooms so avoid comparingyour children with siblings, yourfriends children and even with

yourself when you were a child.

    Look for the individual progress

that your child has made during

    this first semester.

    Reading Your Childs Report

Student reports celebrate studentlearning. Children of all ages take

their cues from their parents so yourreaction to their report can affect the

way they see themselves as learners

    and people.

Before you read your childs report

    take the following points into

    consideration:

Look for strengths first and takeinto account your childs effort

    and attitude. Ask for their

    parents and teacher.

    The children demonstrate what they

know as they share theiraccomplishments and future

learning goals. The parents find out

about their childrens learning, havethe opportunity to ask questions and

express their ideas, and make plansto support their childrens learningat home. Teachers facilitate the

    three-way conversations. They

support the parents by clarifying, elaborating and responding to

    specific questions and concerns.

    Three - Way Conferences

Three-Way Conferences providestudents with the opportunity tofocus on their role in the learningprocess. Skills of reflection and self-appraisal need to be developed over

time, as they are vital, life-longskills. Three-Way Conferences

allow the student to take someresponsibility for their learning andshare their learning with their

    of individual student work

    samples and experiences.

To support the student report and

    to use in Three-Way

    Conferences.

    To promote student knowledge

    and understandings about

personal strengths and goals topromote student accountability

    and responsibility.

    To showcase student learning.

    Portfolios will be handed out

with reports and then returned to

    school during parent/ teacher

    conferences.

    Portfolios

During the year all students developa Portfolio as a major part of our

    assessment and reporting program.

The purpose of the Portfolio is:

To communicate informationabout student learning and

attainment to parents through thesharing of an ongoing collection

    trained exceptionally hard under the

watchful eye of Miss Nyman and

    Mrs Kemp.
