Last Tuesday the School Choir participated in the City of Albany Primary Schools’ Music Festival at the Albany Entertainment Centre. Our Choir performed two songs, Land of a 1000 Dances, and Riptide. They were absolutely sensational and this is down to the expertise and excellent coordination and preparation of the Choir by our music specialist teacher, Jenny Jones. It was a great privilege to be in the audience and know these students were representing our school. Congratulations to all students for their wonderful participation and excellent sportsmanship at the Faction Athletics Carnival last Thursday. The Runner Up and Champion Medal recipients are determined from the collective points scored from various activities over two days, jumps, throws and track. Congratulations to all the winners, however I firmly believe everyone was a winner on the day. I would like to thank all the helpers on the day, giving special mention to Mr Evans and Mr Cowcher for the extensive work they did ensuring the grounds were marked, areas defined, shelters erected and races were started. Many parents helped out on the day and we could not manage without you, thank you for your very valuable support. Thank you also to Mr Faulkner for organising and coordinating the senior carnival and Mrs McLean for organising and coordinating the junior carnival. Uniforms: A reminder that the school uniform is maroon and gold, not black. It has been noted some students are wearing black or denim shorts. Please support our school to comply with the Department of Education’s School Uniform Policy and ensure they are dressed in Mount Lockyer Primary School uniform. Camp: A reminder that Year 6 students will be going on camp early next term. Full payment will be required prior to the camp. Payment can be made in instalments; it does not have to be one lump sum. A number of families have taken this option and found it has made coming up with the $200 much less of a strain on finances. NAPLAN Reports: Today Year 3, 5 and 7 students will bring home their NAPLAN Reports. The reports will be accompanied by a pamphlet which explains how to read and interpret the information provided. Student Work: For this week due to shortage of room we have replaced the Behaviour Management Process on the last page with some wonderful work from the children in Room 21, Year 3. They have completed some excellent timelines, enjoy. As this is the last week of term I wish everyone a very happy, safe and relaxing holiday. Mount Lockyer Faction Athletics Results 2014 Champions and Runner-Up Champions

Swimming Lessons 2014 In-term swimming lessons will take place next term in weeks 1 and 2 (14th October - 24th October) for rooms - 9, 3, 6, PP1 and 5. Notes have been sent home and payments are now due. The remaining classes will be having their lessons in weeks 3, 4, 5 and 6. Notes will be sent home early term 4. Swimming lessons are a very important part of the school program. All children are expected to attend. The lessons are free but there is a cost for bus travel and entry to the pool. A subsidy of $3000 has been given to the school by the P&C to help reduce the cost for parents. If there are any legitimate reasons for not participating in swimming lessons, please inform Mr Faulkner by letter or phone.
