News letter of (Published Quarterly and Distributed Free to Members) Vol. 12 No. 12 Jaipur June 2013 Greetings from Neurotrauma Society of India! Once again thank you all for your spirited efforts! We are addressing trauma, not just the operative aspect but also preoperative, ICU, nursing and rehabilitation. There can be no trauma management without a holistic approach. But we can not deny our role as preventive activists looking at the horrible effects of neurotrauma all the time. Since we are participants of the rectification of the post traumatic effects, it comes quite naturally that our role in preventive aspects should be more active. As a society which is progressing with clear and progressive role, I summon all members to take up the responsibility of playing their own defined responsibilities, in form of student and public awareness programmes, helping the traffic police programmes etc. We would appreciate such attempts and experiences to be shared amongst the members, so that we can formulate our plan of action in near future. Greetings from Neurotrauma Society of India!

Once again thank you all for your spirited efforts!

We are addressing trauma, not just the operative aspect but also

preoperative, ICU, nursing and rehabilitation. There can be no trauma

management without a holistic approach. But we can not deny our role

as preventive activists looking at the horrible effects of neurotrauma all

the time. Since we are participants of the rectification of the post

traumatic effects, it comes quite naturally that our role in preventive

aspects should be more active. As a society which is progressing with

clear and progressive role, I summon all members to take up the

responsibility of playing their own defined responsibilities, in form of

student and public awareness programmes, helping the traffic police

programmes etc. We would appreciate such attempts and experiences

to be shared amongst the members, so that we can formulate our plan of

action in near future.

Looking forward to mindful and indulgent responses from all of you

The 22nd annual Conference of Neurotrauma Society of India (Neurotrauma 2013) is held at Guwahati from

23rd to 25ht August, 2013. This conference was offered at 20th Annual meeting which was held at Ranchi in

2011. At this Juncture, I offered my sincere thanks to the central committee for allowing us to hold this national

conference in Guwahati. The Neurosurgical fraternity of north-eastern states of India is proud to hold

Neurotrauma2013 in this gate-way state of North-east. In fact this is the first ever national conference related to

neuroscience.

We have successfully held this three days long scientific meet with all support from delegate and sponsorship

from various pharmaceutical companies. On 22nd August 2013, a bike rally was conducted for public

awareness in road safety and prevention of Neurotrauma. The rally was well attended and covers the distance of

20 KM through the main city road. It was followed by a press meet in the conference venue where all local

electronic and print media as well as good numbers of national media were present.

On 23rd August, 2013, afternoon the conference was formally inaugurated by Hon'ble speaker of Assam

legislative assembly Mr. Pranab Gogoi. At the beginning of the function, the welcome address was offered by

the organizing secretary, Dr. B. K. Baishya. The souvenir of Neurotrauma 2013 was released by the president of

NTSI Dr. H S Bhatoe. The three day long scientific programme includes almost all aspects of neurotrauma.

There were three symposiums on the theme of diffuse brain injury, stem-cell therapy on neurotrauma and CSF

fistulae in cranial trauma. Apart from that, this conference had five numbers of orations by eminent

neuroscientist of repute. There were six award papers, forty one free papers and eighteen posters presented by

various delegates. WE have registered twenty two numbers of guest faculties, two hundred fifty five numbers

of delegates, sixty five numbers of accompanying persons and seventy two numbers of nurses/paramedics.

This is history in neurotrauma that neurotrauma 2013 at Guwahati introduces a separate independent scientific

programme for nurses/paramedics. We have seen very good response from the neuro-nurses of the country and

a very elaborative scientific programme was conducted by them where resource faculty was from Malaysia.

The valedictory function was held on 25th August,13 at 12noon under the chairmanship of President, NTSI Dr.

H. S. Bhatoe. The secretary of NTSI, Dr. V. D. Sinha distributed the award paper prizes in that function. Dr. B.

K. Baishya, Org. Secretary of Neurotrauma 2013 offered the vote thanks to all and distributed the prizes to

nurses for best posters.
