Strong home buyer demand cou-
pled with below average home list-
ing activity has created seller's
market conditions within the Metro
Vancouver* housing market. The
Real Estate Board of Greater Van-
couver (REBGV) reports that resi-
dential property sales in Metro
Vancouver reached 4,179 on the
Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®)
in April 2015. This represents a 37
per cent increase compared to the
3,050 sales recorded in April 2014,
and a 2.9 per cent increase com-
pared to the 4,060 sales in March
2015. Last month’s sales were
29.3 per cent above the 10-year
sales average for the month. “The

Home buyer demand outpacing supply across the Metro Van-couver housing market
Funny Joke
Johnny's Heavy Wagon
Little Johnny was going to his fathers
house one day and he was packing
every thing in his room and putting it in
his little red wagon.
He was walking to his fathers house
with his wagon behind him, when he
came to this hill.
He started up the hill but was con-
stantly swearing "This God damn thing
is so heavy"
A priest heard him and came out. "You
shouldn't be swearing" said the priest.
"God hears you...He is every-
where...He's in the church...He's on the
sidewalk...He's everywhere"
Then Little Johnny says "Oh is he in
my Wagon"
The priest replies "Yes Johnny God is
in your Wagon"
Little Johnny says "Well tell him to get
the hell out and start pulling"

buyers. This is putting upward
pressure on prices, particularly in
the detached home market," Darcy
McLeod, REBGV president said.
New listings for detached, attached
and apartment properties in Metro
Vancouver totalled 5,897 in April.
This represents a 0.9 per cent de-
crease compared to the 5,950 new
listings reported in April 2014. The
total number of properties currently
listed for sale on the region’s
MLS® is 12,436, a 19.8 per cent
decline compared to April 2014
and an increase of 0.5 per cent
compared to March 2015. “It’s a
competitive and fast-moving mar-
ket today that is tilted in favour of
home sellers. To be competitive, it’
s important to connect with a local
REALTOR® who can help you de-
velop a strategy to meet your
home buying or selling needs,”
McLeod said. The MLS® Home
Price Index composite benchmark
price for all residential properties in
Metro Vancouver is currently
$673,000. This represents an 8.5
per cent increase compared to
April 2014. The sales-to-active-
listings ratio in April was 33.6 per
cent. This is the highest that this
ratio has been in Metro Vancouver
since June 2007. Sales of de-
tached properties in April 2015
reached 1,815, an increase of 35.9
per cent from the 1,336 detached
sales recorded in April 2014, and a
70.6 per cent increase from the
1,064 units sold in April 2013. The
benchmark price for a detached
property in Metro Vancouver in-
creased 12.5 per cent from April
2014 to $1,078,900. Sales of
apartment properties reached
1,579 in April 2015, an increase of
34.7 per cent compared to the
1,172 sales in April 2014, and an
increase of 50.1 per cent com-
pared to the 1,052 sales in April
2013. The benchmark price of an
apartment property increased 4.4
per cent from April 2014 to
$394,200. Attached property sales
in April 2015 totalled 785, an in-
crease of 44.8 per cent compared
to the 542 sales in April 2014, and
a 53.6 per cent increase from the
511 attached properties sold in
April 2013. The benchmark price of
an attached unit increased 5.7 per
cent between April 2014 and 2015
to $493,300.

(NC) No matter what the season, Canadi-
ans love being outdoors. While Canadians
will brave the elements year round, things
are made a lot easier during the spring and
summer months. The amount of warm
weather activities are endless, however for
many Canadians the best memories are of
time spent with friends and family at the
cottage or in the backyard. One of the ne-
cessities for any outdoor gathering is a
powerful barbecue. The right grill and ac-
cessories can provide you and your guests
with mouth-watering meats, pizzas, vegeta-
bles and more. Here are some things to
look for when searching for your next grill:
Cooking Grids: Look for a grill with
heavy cast iron or stainless steel cooking
grids. Thick tightly spaced rods provide
superior heat retention that delivers searing
heat across the entire grilling surface.
Vaporization: Food drippings that are
allowed to drop through to the grease tray
are simply lost flavour. When you are
shopping for a grill look for a vaporizing
system that fully covers the cook box. This
allows vaporization to occur everywhere,
maximizing the flavour of your food.
The Burner System: The burner system
is one of the most important features in any
grill. If you already own a grill, you know
that nothing
is more frus-
trating that
doing the
grill dance –
rotating your
food around
the grill be-
cause of uneven heat distribution. Look for
a grill with multiple burners and flame
ports on both sides for the best coverage.
An important tip to note with tube burners
is gas has a natural tendency to pool at the
front. Make sure you look for a burner with
Dual-Tube design like in Broil King grills.
This is engineered to ensure even flame
from front to back. For peace of mind con-
sider a grill with a burner warranty of at
least 10 years.
If you are selecting a grill for the cottage,
make sure to also purchase a cover to pro-
tect from inclement weather and animals.
These are just a few helpful tips to keep in
mind when you are looking for your next
grill. Do your research, read consumer re-
views, and ask the store's customer service
representatives any questions that you may
have.

Total Time:40 min ; Prep:15 min
Yield : 6 servings
Level:Easy
Ingredients
3 red bell peppers, seeded and halved
3 yellow squash (about 1 pound total), sliced lengthwise into 1/2-inch-thick rectangles
3 zucchini (about 12 ounces total), sliced lengthwise into 1/2-inch-thick rectangles
3 Japanese eggplant (12 ounces total), sliced lengthwise into 1/2-inch-thick rectangles
12 cremini mushrooms
1 bunch (1-pound) asparagus, trimmed
12 green onions, roots cut off
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves
1 teaspoon chopped fresh basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary leaves
Directions
Place a grill pan over medium-high heat or prepare the barbecue (medium-high heat). Brush the vegetables with 1/4 cup of the oil to coat lightly. Sprinkle the vegetables with salt and pepper. Work-ing in batches, grill the vegetables until tender and lightly charred all over, about 8 to 10 minutes for the bell peppers; 7 minutes for the yellow squash, zucchini, eggplant, and mushrooms; 4 minutes for the asparagus and green onions. Arrange the vegetables on a platter. The key to getting those great grill marks is to not shift the vegetables too frequently once they've been placed on the hot grill.
Meanwhile, whisk the remaining 2 ta-blespoons of oil, balsamic vinegar, gar-lic, parsley, basil, and rosemary in a small bowl to blend. Add salt and pep-per to taste. Drizzle the herb mixture over the vegetables. Serve the vegeta-bles, warm or at room temperature.
