September 2013

Warm Greetings to you from Romania!

These last few months have been packed full of many different events, teams, camps, challenges, joys, work, praise and life.

We are so thankful for all the ways that God has been using us to touch many dif-ferent people from many different places. We have been seeing God’s kingdom be-ing built as a whole and we have the privi-lege of planting seeds, watering them, and fighting for them to grow in many differ-ent areas.

It is amazing to see how God’s king-dom transcends all kinds of cultural and ethnical barriers. Outreach to South Africa

As we already mentioned in our previous up-date, in April we took a team of 7 people in-cluding us to South Africa for a 2 week out-reach. This was an opportunity for Romanians to have a taste of missions and to experience God in a different culture while also encourag-ing and helping long-term missionaries in South Africa.

This outreach was an amazing time in which we saw God working in the lives of the individ-uals who came with us. In several of them it lit a fire for God and for ministry and missions. As we went to bless others, at the same time God did such an amazing work in us and richly blessed all of us too.

One girl on our team was greatly affected. Mihaela had always had a heart for ministry and missions. She had a strong desire to serve God, but never had the opportunity or the money to go on a mission trip. As we talked to her about the opportunity of going to South Af-rica, she knew God wanted her to go, but she still had no money. From then on she decided to put all her energy and passion into speaking with people about this trip. She even went to her bosses at work and had the opportunity to do a humanitarian aid fundraiser at work. Within weeks she was able to raise all the sup-port she needed, exclusively through Romani-ans, which is a great amazement to us, consid-ering that the outreach cost about four months of Romanian wages! God is amazing! Even af-ter the outreach Mihaela decided to volunteer with us and she has since been part of several ministries we have been doing. This outreach truly lit the fire and passions she had in her for ministry.

In South Africa we spent most of our time helping to build a new house for a single mom, Ruth. Her old house had been burned down and she had no means of building a new one, so the organization that we collaborated with, Ten Thousand Homes, decided to help her with the construction of a new and durable home. We worked at cementing, laying bricks, finishing the walls and doing other jobs on the house.

3 of the young people from the team felt

that God is calling them to missions

we had the chance to love on a special

South African family that we help with

building their house (Ruth and her 2

sons Felix 15 years and Menzi 3 years.)

The LORD will keep you from all harm, He will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over

your coming and going both now and forevermore.

(Psalm 121:7,8)

For part of the time we helped rebuild a water tank for a water collector system that had been destroyed (top photo).

Throughout this outreach we truly saw God’s hand at work; protecting us, blessing us so we can bless others and working in our lives while we are helping others. All the glory be to God, who gives us passion, life and joy in Him!

Team from Texas

Not long after we returned from South Afri-ca, we hosted a DTS team from Texas on out-reach.

We led the team in a variety of ministries. These included kids programs with clowns in the central park, a small local church during the Sunday services, ministering to people from a local garbage dump community, evangelism in the city, and maintenance projects on our YWAM property. Throughout the teams time with us, we had the opportunity to encourage them in their pursuit of God and His will for their life.

The Maintenance Project of

Summer 2013

This summer the men of the YWAM team undertook a BIG project. We began the process of connecting the ministry center to the new city sewage system. This required digging a ditch approximately 100 feet long and 6 feet deep through hard rocky ground. We spent many days of sweat equity to accomplish this improvement.

A Time of Seeking God

Beginning in the middle of July to the end of August the YWAM team spent an intense time seeking God through prayer, intercession and worship. This was a time of refreshing where God spoke to us regarding many things person-ally and for the ministry. He challenged us to a different emphasis in our everyday life.

God led us again to return to our first love. He showed us that above anything else He wants to have a deep relationship with us. He has a intense desire for our whole hearts. He desires to mold us and give us a true passion for Him, a love for others, and in our hearts His joy and peace. The only way for us to give Him our whole hearts is to fully surrender and submit ourselves to Him. The amazing thing is that during this time of surrendering, repenting and crying out for more of God, He showed us the beauty, gentleness, sweetness, peace and restoration that comes through His Spirit. He showed some of us new talents He’s given us, others He healed of physical conditions, others He restored spiritually and emotionally and to all of us He gave a new and greater passion for Him.

“But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find Him, if you search after Him with all your

heart and with all your soul”

- Deuteronomy 4:29

Personally, God spoke to me (Sim) and led me into a deeper intimacy in worship. He showed me more of what it means to fully sur-render myself to Him, to stay in His presence, to “delight myself in the Lord” and to drink from the “Fountain of Life.” (Psalm 37:4, Psalm 36:8-9) Also He spoke to me about new ways of praising Him with the guitar and my voice and using the creativity and skills He gave me to lead others into the Holy of Holies.

Two years ago I felt led to give my acoustic guitar away. During this time God confirmed what He spoke to me personally by giving me another acoustic guitar.

God truly is Amazing!

A Time of Refreshing and Newness

For the last 2 months we have been in a new and different season of our lives concerning ministry. We felt for several months that it may be time for Ana Maria to take a sabbatical from the ministry. She has been serving in missions for over ten years. After much prayer and talking with our leaders, we decided mid July would be a good time to begin this sabbatical.

At first I did not know what to expect, but I have learned that a sabbatical is to be a time of reflecting, resting, and letting God minister to me. This will bring refreshing into my life. Although I don’t think that I was at the point of burn out, I did often end each day without energy or strength. I also developed some health challenges and being so busy with the ministry I was not able to take care of myself like I needed to.

During this sabbatical I am meeting regularly with a coach, who is helping me and guiding me in my process.

Already after two months, I am experiencing improved health in every area of my being; in body, soul and spirit. I enjoy being in my Daddy’s presence and hearing Him speaking new things to me. At the same time I am learning how to take care of my physical health and trusting that I will overcome through my Lord Jesus.

We do not know yet how long this sabbatical will last. We are asking God if He is leading us to end it in December this year, or if He is calling us to continue longer.

Sim is continuing in fulltime ministry;

serving on the leadership team, helping in mentoring the guys and being involved in the different projects at YWAM Cluj.

Because of God’s leading some of our plans have changed for the second half of the year. In the previous update we wrote about doing a mini-DTS in August. This has been postponed and we are continuing to pray about when to reschedule.

Also, we were planning to go to Switzerland to see family and supporters in September/October, but this too has been to postponed until next year.

Praise God

For this time of drawing us into a

more intimate relationship with Him.

For the great testimony and experi-

ence of the outreach in South Africa.

Please Pray for:

God’s continuing guidance during

the sabbatical and the next few

months following it.

Good health in our bodies.

Perseverance in following what God

is speaking to us concerning our walk

with Him, ministry and family.

We wish you all a great Autumn and pray that God will also speak to you many wonderful things, like He has been speaking to us! God is good! Many blessings,

Sim & Ana Maria
