Safe driving is a matter of health and safety. You have certain responsibilities to ensure that you protect yourself

and others from this very serious hazard. Make sure you follow traffic rules and drive safely.

Obey posted speed limits.

Obey posted traffic signs. Stop signs require a full stop; simply slowing down is not acceptable.

Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and intersections. Pedestrians have the right of way.

Joggers and walkers must use sidewalks and/or walking trails. Always wear your seat belt, and insist that your passengers buckle up too, per state law.

Always look as far ahead as possible for the earliest recognition of safety hazards. Keep a two- to three-second cushion between you and the vehicle immediately ahead of you.

Don't drive and talk (or text) on a cell phone. – State law makes using a hand-held communications device while driving a primary offense.

– Pull over and park in a safe place when using a hand-held cellular phone and other hand-held mobile devices while driving.

Obey parking rules -Parking is NOT permitted in roadways or in “No Parking” areas, fire lanes, and in front of buildings and loading docks. This is required by state law.

Danger of Cell Phone use: Please read the below 2 articles submitted by Brs. Ali Chaudhry and Akhtar Khan:We took 1 Egg, & 2 Mobiles. We placed the egg between the 2 mobiles. We then initiated a call between the two mobiles, and allowed it to continue for approximately 65 minutes... During the first 15 minutes nothing happened. 25 minutes later, the egg started getting hot. 45 minutes later, the egg was hot.

65 minutes later, the egg was fully cooked. Conclusion: The radiation from the mobiles has the potential to heat and modify the proteins of the egg. Imagine what it can do with the proteins of your brains when you make long calls.

Please try to reduce long time calls on mobile phones.

Enjoy the summer;

But Drive Safely!

WHO warns of possible link between cell phones, brain cancerBy Bob BrownMay 31, 2011 03:42 PM ET

Network World - The World Health Organization (WHO) has determined that radiation from cell phones can possibly increase brain cancer risk - a change in thinking for an organization that previously has denied evidence of any such link. The decision is based on the judgment of a group of 31 scientists from 14 countries including the United States who reviewed a collection of the latest research while in France earlier this month. The decision is sobering considering there are some 5 billion cell phones in use now.

"The WHO/International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans... based on an increased risk for glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer1, associated with wireless phone use," WHO reports. WHO recommends that users limit their exposure to such radiation if possible, though more research is needed to verify an absolute link between cell phone use and cancer

The Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) was quick to point out the limits of the latest WHO/IARC conclusion: " IARC conducts numerous reviews and in the past has given the same score to, for example, pickled vegetables and coffee. This IARC classification does not mean cell phones cause cancer. Under IARC rules, limited evidence from statistical studies can be found even though bias and other data flaws may be the basis for the results”.

Daring Fireball blogger John Gruber   wrote in light of the WHO announcement: "I think it's quite possible that this issue could be the single greatest long-term threat to Apple. I'd hate to see today's handset makers turn into yesterday's tobacco companies." Though he updated his post to stress that WHO said a link can't be ruled out, not that it's definite.

MARRIAGE COUNSELING1. Marriage takes work. There's no way to get around that. And it takes work from BOTH sides. Sisters tell me that very often they will put a lot of work into the marriage, but, unfortunately, the husband doesn't keep up his end. Both husband and wife should realize from the outset that being married is more than bringing home the money, paying the bills, cooking, and cleaning. Being married means nurturing a relationship with love, patience, generosity, and a good sense of humor. I highly recommend Ustadha Hedaya Hartford's Initiating and Upholding an Islamic Marriage (almuhajabat.com) for some deep insights into the spiritual aspects of marriage.

 2. A good marriage is strengthened by spiritual growth, emotional maturity, and intellectual development on both sides. If husbands and wives don't grow together, they often grow apart. Each person is responsible as an individual for fulfilling their religious obligations. However, each person is part of a team. Like Ustadha Hedaya says in her book, the spirit of an Islamic marriage is that of husband and wife gently pulling each other into Paradise. Spouses should set aside time for each other: time to worship, time to work, and time to play. Doing a variety of activities together can strengthen their bond and cause them to see each other in a new light

3. People often mistake lust for love. When husband and wife are newlyweds, they often experience a high level of desire for each other. Over time, as the spouses get used to each other and settle into routines, that passion can wane. Having children can also tax their physical relationship. Then husband and wife get disappointed with each other because they expected that that initial high of the honeymoon period would last forever. The key here is to realize that the driving force behind marriage has to be something more stable and more profound than passion. Passion is a good thing. But it has to be balanced and expanded upon with love. You don't want to wake up one day and decide, o since I've run out of passion, I must not be in love anymore

4. Sometimes it takes a lifetime to discover what love truly is. It isn't anything like the portrayals in popular entertainment. It doesn't always reveal itself in some great epiphany. Instead, it manifests itself in very subtle, almost unconscious ways. Husbands and wives don't magically fall in love. They have to strive toward it, battling many obstacles on the way. Love is worth fighting for. And the best help we can have in this struggle is the divine tawfiq, or success, of Allah Most High. To achieve this divine help, we have to constantly turn to Allah in sincere supplication, strive to perform our religious obligations, and honor the rights of our spouses, even when we don't want to. Sometimes we may not like our spouses. However, remember the words of Allah Most High, "And consort with your wives in a goodly manner; for if you dislike them, it may well be that you dislike something which God might yet make a source of abundant good." [Al-Nisa, 4:19]. 5. Marriage is a commitment made upon the Word of Allah and the Sunna of His Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace. It should not be taken lightly, and it should not be ended lightly. Please encourage your husband to seek counseling. This is the best way. Allah Most High says that the believers decide their affairs through shura, or mutual consultation. Tell your husband that you are committed to finding a solution.
