Medical Insurance

• Annual coverage limit of S$20,000 per student• Covers at least B2 ward (6 persons in a room) in government

hospitals • 24-hour coverage in Singapore and overseas (if the student is involved

in SHRM-related activities)

Fee Protection Scheme

Insurance Scheme SHRM will purchase insurance from the list of CPE-approved FPS providers for all students enrolled to ensure protection of the students’ fees. Under the insurance scheme, SHRM is allowed to collect the total fees from the students directly.

Policy and Procedure

1 Transfer means changing the course of study but remains as a student of SHRM.

2 Withdrawal means that the student contract has been terminated and the student is no longer a student of SHRM.

Transfer to another course

• Request for transfer must be submitted in writing to the Student Services Department.

• The request will be treated as a withdrawal from the current course and as a new application for a new course.

• Upon approval of the transfer, the previous student contract will be considered as void. All discounts/rebates entitled to the student under the previous contract shall be forfeited.

• Student Pass application will be submitted to Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) for approval.

Withdrawal

• Request for withdrawal must be made in writing to the Student Services Department (Note that the refund policy applies).

• SHRM shall, within 7 working days upon receipt of the written notice of withdrawal, send student a response to the address stated in the written notice of withdrawal.

• Upon approval, the previous student contract will be considered as void. All discounts/rebates entitled to student under the previous contract shall be forfeited.

• For international students who is transferring to another institution, their Student Pass will be cancelled.

Government RegulationsSINGAPORE LAWSingapore has strict laws that apply to everyone including foreigners.

Please note particularly that:• Drug offence may be punishable by death sentence. • No jaywalking is allowed on Singapore’s roads. • No fighting in the college or in public. • Chewing gum is banned from entry into Singapore.• Littering is punishable by a heavy fine. • Alcohol must not be consumed by those under 18 years of age.• Smoking is prohibited in SHRM campus, food centres and all air-

conditioned areas.

You may be suspended or expelled from the college if you break any law in Singapore

Student Pass

A Student Pass is issued to a foreign student under strict conditions:

• It is issued only for the purpose of studying in SHRM for a particular course.

• Student is NOT ALLOWED to work in Singapore (whether paid or unpaid).

• Student is NOT ALLOWED to patronise nightclubs, KTV lounges and other entertainment places that are prohibited to students.

Student Pass

• The Student Pass must be renewed every 6 months. It is your responsibility to take note of the expiry date so that you can renew your student pass two weeks before expiry to avoid overstaying in Singapore.

• If ICA does not renew the student pass, you will have to leave Singapore.

• No Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident can adopt you.

• You cannot get married to a Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident while in Singapore on a Student Pass.

• You must not get pregnant while on Student Pass.

Student Pass

If your Student Pass has been lost or stolen:

• Report the loss immediately to the Police and obtain a copy of the Police Report.

• Give a copy of the Police Report to SHRM and retain a copy for yourself.

• SHRM will proceed to inform ICA to obtain a replacement Student Pass for you.

• You are only allowed to apply for a replacement Student Pass once at the cost of S$100.

• If you lose it a second time, you will not be able to get a replacement.

Home Leave & Medical Leave

• Students can only leave Singapore when there’s a term break.

• Student Services Officer will request for student to fill in Student Leave Application form.

• Only Medical Certificates from local GPs will be accepted for absenteeism from class.

• Student Services Officer will request for student to fill in Medical Certificate Submission form.
