1 Island News Quarterly Newsletter September 2019 Summer is Over We are praising God for a good summer on the island. We were blessed to see twenty-three campers come to know Jesus as their Savior. What a great blessing for us to be a part of this. This summer also saw campers in our Red Oak cabin for the first time. Everybody loved the cabin with its new layout. Now to do the rest of the cabins. Our staff and campers also enjoyed the hammock pods. This new activity was a real hit with pretty much everyone. Our thanks to all that gave and worked to make our hammock pods happen! Our 2019 Calendar September 30 Golf Marathon October 2-5 Quilt & Craft Retreat 18-19 Mens Retreat Fall Events We had a tremendous Ladies Retreat with Mrs. Joanna Arp speaking about finding peace in the Lord. Our Fall Praise Dinner was also a terrific time. Blessings from this past year were shared as well as dreams for the future of the camp. We are now looking forward to our Golf Marathon which is being held on Monday, September 30th. Even if the event is over you can still support the camp and your favorite golfer. Our Quilt and Craft Retreat will be held on October 2 - 5. Come for all or part and have a great time finishing projects you don’t have time to do at home. Our Mens Retreat will be held on October 18&19. David Lee, a former camper and staff member will be speaking for us. John Wilcox will be leading our music and, of course, there will be NLI barbecued chicken! Come and join us for a time of doing things that men enjoy doing. Information about our events can be found on our website, nli.org. Look for Retreats under the Events tab. You can also call us at the camp. We would be happy to answer your questions. 2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. No one leaves the same

Wishes and NeedsWe are in the planning stages of a new project. Our plan is to move the old plumbing shed next to the office and turn it into our snack shop. This will allow us to expand our office space into our existing snack shop. We estimate the cost of this project to be $9000.00. Donations are appreciated!

Prayer for Norm Please pray for our director, Norm MacKenzie, as he is currently undergoing chemotherapy for his cancer. Being in treatment while activities are going on here at camp can be difficult. Your prayer support is appreciated and needed.
Staff Support We have been encouraged by the response to our request for support for Jordan and Esther Rofe as they have come to help us here at camp. Their home church in New York has taken them on for support. Several people have given one time gifts and a few have promised monthly support. That being said, we have a ways to go. Currently we are at 40% of the support needed for the first year.Information is available on our website. Go to nli.org and look for the Staff Support link under the Support Us tab.Please consider what part the Lord might have you play in this important step forward for our camp.
For SaleWe have a vintage commercial range for sale. It is a Garland six burner propane unit. We are selling it because we have been given a newer range to use there. If you are interested please contact us here at camp.
Scholarships and DiscountsThis summer New Life Island gave away $12,980.00 in camper scholarships and other discounts. This figure is pretty large for a camp of our size. Which is why we try to recoup as many of those funds as possible through events like our Golf Marathon. So, please consider supporting a golfer or just sending a gift to help defray this cost.
