OBJECTIVES

New Khanki barrage will assure sustainable irrigation supplies to about three million acres of

very fertile land of seven districts of central Punjab i.e. Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura,

Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba-Tek-Singh. Safe passage of floods will also be

ensured due to enhancement of design capacity of the barrage from 800,000 cusecs to 11,

00,000 cusecs 

PHYSICAL PROGRESS

  Loan has been declared effective by Asian Development Bank recently.

  Project implementation activities are at initial stages.
