Great Choice!

GETTING STARTED

Congratulations on selecting Consolidated Energy to install the air conditioning in your beautiful new home!

To begin with, we will help you get to know your system better. Then we’ll show you all the ways you can maximise and customise it.

If you have any questions along the way, one of the Consolidated Energy Team Members will be ready to assist over the telephone or by email.

Quick facts

• Your Reverse Cycle air conditioning system will provide cooling in summer and heating in winter.

• The indoor unit is positioned within your roof space.

• The outdoor unit is located on an external wall outside your home.

• The system is designed to service approximately 50-60% of your new home at any one time - either operating living areas during the day or the bedrooms at night.

• The system uses the air inside your home - external doors and windows should remain closed.

How the air flow works

• Ductwork carries the air from the indoor unit, through the roof space, to the outlets within your room.

• The air will distribute from the outlets and find its path of least resistance back to the return air grill.

• The air travels up through the return air grill back into the indoor unit where the process begins again.

• To assist with the air flow, internal doors between the return air grille and the outlets should remain open by about 20cm (mainly applies to main living area outlets).

Understanding your system

Your Zones

• Your home air conditioning is split up into zones. The zones will be detailed on your air conditioning plan. For flexbility and for even greater efficiency, extra zones can be added.

(Please note: there is a maximum number of zones that can be added, please ask one of our Consolidated energy team members)

Your Outlets

• The recommended outlet locations for your home have been marked on your plan, to ensure you get the best out of your system.

• The builder’s electrical plan is taken into account when positioning your outlets. The lighting by your builder is normally completed before the air conditioning is installed.

• If you are installing any lighting after handover, please be sure to let us know, to avoid any clash of locations between lights and outlets.

Controllers

• Your controllers are located on your air conditioning plan marked as a grey box.

• The main system controller allows you to control the main functions of your system, including the temperature, timer and switching it on and off. The zone controller allows you to turn the individual zones on and off.

• For even more convenience and control of your system, you have the option to customise your controllers.

Ductwork

• Where sufficient roof space available, ductwork is suspended from the roof beams. This provides an extremely efficient and uninterrupted flow of air to the outlets.

• The ductwork that is installed to your home is R1 rated ductwork which has 50mm of insulation.

• Like many of our customers, you can take advantage of improving your insulation to the air with the premium ductwork option.

The Indoor Unit

• Your indoor unit is positioned within the roof space. Condensation will be drained away through a pipe that will lead external to your home.

• A drip tray is positioned underneath your indoor unit, and this will catch any excess condensation. This is drained away through a discreet pipe exiting out of your eaves.

• If you ever notice dripping from the small pipe in your eaves, please call our service department who will have one of our installers attend to investigate. Please ensure your system is not in use until notified by our installer.

Your Outdoor Unit

• The outdoor unit is located on an external wall outside your home and is marked on your plans.

• The pipework running up the outside wall from your outdoor unit is enclosed using a pipecover.

Please note! As we have to work in and around other trades and their needs- This can sometimes disrupt us designing the ideal system and service locations to be impractical or even impossible! Our installers will use their extensive expertise and experience to solve this for you on the day of installation.
