The electrocardiography technician program prepares you for entry-level employment as an EKG technician. The duties of an EKG technician include preparing the patient for the exam, per­forming the EKG test, maintaining infection control, and having knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology specific to the practice of cardiology. This program is designed to provide students with the skills needed to successfully sit for the national certification exam. 56 Hours - 5.6 CEU

• Electrocardiography I In this introductory course, you'll learn how electrocardiography is applied in a healthcare setting. You'll develop a working familiarity with the cardiovascular system, its function, its possible pathology and pharmacology and learn to respond to cardiac emergencies. Topics include anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, pulmonary and systemic circulation, mechanical and electrical cardiac cycle, mechanical action of tire heart and EKG, action and effect of cardiac drugs, basics of pulmonary and cardiac diseases and CPR/first aid.
