S bmission of an abstract of a paper forconsideration for presentation at the ann al meetingof the Association implies that the a thors have notprevio sly presented these data at a national scien-tific meeting and that they are not planning to do soprior to the dates of the AACR ann al meeting. Thecontent of all abstracts is kept confidential by themembers of the Program Committee d ring thereview and p blication process. After review of theabstract by the Program Committee the a thors willbe notified abo t its acceptability for presentation .The paper given at the ann al meeting m stcoincide directly with the scientific content of thes bmitted abstract . If for any reason this is notpossible, the paper m st be withdrawn frompresentation. Only those abstracts that afterscientific review by the Program Committee aredeemed acceptable for presentation at the ann almeeting will be p blished in the Proceedings of theAmerican Association for Cancer Research to beiss ed in the Spring of 1994 . N.B . A thors will becharged for prod ction costs of abstracts withdrawnafter the Proceedings goes to press .

The Program Committee will assign papers atits own discretion to minisymposia, poster disc ssionsessions, and poster sessions .

Minisymposia. Minisymposia will be plannedfrom s bmitted abstracts . This format serves as avehicle for the presentation and extensive disc ssionof developments in timely areas of cancer research .

A thors whose papers are assigned to mini-symposia will be informed abo t the amo nt of timeavailable for the delivery of their papers . There willbe opport nities for the disc ssion of each papersched led at appropriate intervals d ring thesession . In addition, these sessions will incl de anintrod ction and a concl ding disc ssion of the topic .

The Program Committee has identified an mber of topics as being s itable for minisymposiaand strongly enco rages the s bmission of abstractsin these areas . If a s fficient n mber of high-q alityabstracts are s bmitted and accepted on thesetopics, minisymposia will be devised . A thors whos bmit abstracts in these areas sho ld note thattheir papers may be sched led in poster sessions ifthey cannot be accommodated in minisymposia .A thors need not designate their interest in thesesessions on the abstract form ; the ProgramCommittee will se comp ter-aided searchtechniq es to identify appropriate s bmissions .

Prior to the ann al meeting, the twochairpersons of these sessions will comm nicatedirectly with the a thors presenting in the sessionto obtain more information on the work to be dis-c ssed.
