General Information

COURSE DESCRIPTIONNeuroradiology: Practice to Innovation is intended to provide a practical discussion and review of common diseases involving the brain, head/neck, and spine. It will also provide an overview of common imaging strategies, as well as an update in new trends, relevant techniques, and applications in diagnostic and/or therapeutic neuroradiology. In addition, this course will review common endovascular and spinal interventional techniques utilized in neuroradiology.

Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in two American Board of Radiology Self-Assessment Modules (SAMs).

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVESUpon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

• Identify key issues in MRI safety, including implanted devices and gadolinium-associated nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF)

• Explain how advanced imaging techniques may be utilized in the management of acute stroke

• Recognize common diseases of the skull base, neck, orbit, and temporal bone • Summarize the added value FDG PET/CT can bring to detection of disease

recurrence in head and neck cancer• Discuss the role of non-invasive imaging in evaluating intracranial aneurysms

and vascular dissections• Recognize common inflammatory patterns and neoplasms of the sinuses and

nasal cavities• Discuss advanced MRI techniques in the evaluation of brain tumors• Recognize the imaging manifestations and differential diagnosis of

paraneoplastic syndromes• Demonstrate MRI and CT features of

neoplastic, inflammatory, traumatic, and degenerative disease of the spine

• Establish a framework for the approach of pediatric metabolic brain disorders

• Describe the spectrum of overlapping, often multiple types of congenital brain anomalies

Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course.
