What is Network?

NetworkAcomputer networkis a set ofcomputers connected together for the purpose of sharing resources. The most common resource shared today is connection to the Internet. Other shared resources can include a printer or a file server.

TopologiesIn communicationnetworks, atopologyis a usually schematic description of the arrangement of a network, including its nodes and connecting lines. There are two ways of definingnetworkgeometry: the physicaltopologyand the logical (or signal)topology.

Types of TopologiesBus TopologyStar TopologyRing TopologyMesh TopologyTree Topology

Bus TopologyAbusnetwork is a networktopologyin which nodes are directly connected to a common linear (or branched) half-duplex link called abus.

7

Star TopologyAstar topologyis atopologyfor a Local Area Network (LAN) in which all nodes are individually connected to a central connection point, like a hub or a switch.

8

Ring TopologyAringnetwork is a networktopologyin which each node connects to exactly two other nodes, forming a single continuous pathway for signals through each node.

Mesh TopologyA network setup where each computer and network device is interconnected with one another, allowing for most transmissions to be distributed, even if one of the connections go down.

Tree TopologyAtree topologycombines characteristics of linear bus and star topologies. It consists of groups of star-configured workstations connected to a linear bus backbone cable.Treetopologies allow for the expansion of an existing network

Cross CableAn Ethernet Crossover Cable is a type of Ethernet Cable which is use to connect two computing devices together directly. It is most often used to connect two devices of same type: e.g. two computers (via Network Interface Controller) or two switches to each other.

How Cross Cable is different to Ethernet:-

Connection using STARConnect the computers using Ethernet Cables with the Central Hub.And then Perform the Next Steps.

Transferring of Data (STAR)

Open Open Network and Sharing Center.

Click on Change advance Sharing settings.

Change the setting as shown.

Change the setting as shown.

Change the setting as shown. Then click on Save Changes.

Open Networks.

Then you are able to see the connected computers.

Firstly you can access only Public folder.

This is how you can share a folder on Network.

Now you are able to see the Shared Folder.

You can also access that Folder.
