“recognizing that participatory media tools provide a direct link to non-school culture, art teachers can (and should) incorporate these technologies to their pedagogy and curricula in order to increase the relevance of the learning experiences offered to their students.” (Roland, March 2009, p.1)

Art Education 2.0 is a network that I would use in multiple levels.

The monthly featured website resources and the RSS would provide current research that could be use in my classroom.

Current Projects area is where teachers feature their lesson plans and photos of student projects. I would showcase my students’ works. I would investigate the projects from other members and be inspired to create projects that will fit my environment.

I would use the Forum to participate in discussions because it’s important for my students that I stay active and current in my teaching field.

Forum is an excellent platform to ask questions, seek assistance, and collaborate with other art teachers.

“technology is a catalyst that can provide new ways to enhance and in some cases transform art learning if it is appropriately engaged through challenging curriculum goals and sound pedagogical practices.” (Roland, March 2009, p.2)

The Blog Posts in Art Education 2.0 site would be a place where I would seek feedback and post reflections.

I would have my students participate in the site’s blogs to actively learn from professionals.

“the use of digital and online tools as expressive art media in schools provides many unique and exciting opportunities for fostering the literacy skills required in the twenty-first century.” (Roland, March 2009, p.1)

With these links I could emphasize cyber laws to the students and teach them about cyber ethics.

In my Graphic Design and Animation classes it’s important for my students to learn about the copyright law because the Internet is their primary source for references.

Classroom 2.0 will help students connect with links that they know it’s within the law to use safely.

Studies have shown that kids today use variety of resources in creating multimedia projects. They download pictures, videos, and audios to mix and generate their own creative expression. (Pitler, 2007)

Classroom 2.0 will be a site where students can access links to multiple copyright resources such as flickr.com and Free Music Archive.
