Efficient image compressionNetCam-DVRII utilizes a Wavelet still image-compressing. It has a 32-bit RISCCPU for more efficient image processing.

Simple installation and additional functionsIts functional firmware is stored in an 8-MB flash memory chip. The firmwarecan be upgraded remotely via Internet or Intranet. The NetCam-DVRIIconnects to external devices such as sensor, pan/tilt mechanism, zoom lens, etc.,via an HD-15 port (RS -232 & RS-485). All external devices can be remotelycontrolled. The NetCam-DVRII controls 4 external CCD cameras, (includingexisting analogue CCTV cameras) by connecting them to video input ports.

HDD protection:The internal hard disk drive is of the same specification as used in laptopcomputers. Therefore the NetCam DVR should be handled with care while inoperation. Excessive shock or vibration may cause a disk crash, which damagesthe disk and causes loss of data.

Recommendation:Mount the caamera on a stable surface. Handle with care.

DB-15 port (RS-232 and RS-485)

Pin 13 is assigned for video output to auto iris lenses. This video output isderived from the camera video output directly, which means there is the risk ofinteraction between automatic shutter and the lens iris controls. Thereforesetting-up of the lens requires a lot of care to avoid this interaction. Whensetting-up the lens ensure that it is done under sufficiently well illuminatedconditions and the lens iris opens and closes at changing lighting conditions. Also make sure not to adjust to a too small iris because this may cause thecamera’s auomatic gain circuit to become active.

Recommendation:The NetCam-DVR is designed as an indoor camera and it is recommended to use amanual iris lens on the camera. The internal automatic shutter and automatic gaincircuits provide ample control of varying lighing conditions indoors.

Every divided data file has the same ID. Although the backup file is divided intosmaller parts, they maintain relationship to one another. This means that whenone of the divided files is played, the whole data information is indicated. Thesefiles should be stored in the same directory. If they are stored in variousdirectories, only the files in same directory can be played back.

5.4 Camera Views

Camera View selection• Activated cameras are shown in yellow.• Non-activated cameras are shown in blue.• ‘All’ means that all the 4 channels are selected.

5.5 Playback ControlThis is to select an event type to search on. CamViewer II search and displayimages are recorded under designated events.• All: Selects all recorded images for replay.• MD: Selects the images that are recorded with ‘motion detection’ function.• S1 & S2: Selects the images that are recorded when sensors detect events.

Two external sensors (such as a thermal sensor or infrared sensor) can be installedto NetCam-DVRII via its HD-15 port.

Note: Always use normally-closed sensors, because NetCam-DVRIIs only support thistype of sensor.

5.5.1 Play Speed:

This controls play speed (0.5x/1x/2x/4x/Max) using a drag slider.

Note: If the user’s Network transmission speed is slow, not all of the recorded framescan be played at the selected speed. In case of slow network operation, CamViewer IImay display images by skipping frames to keep up the selected speed. The speedsignifies the relationship between recording time and displaying time.

Speed options:• 0.5x: This plays recorded images at half the speed of original recorded

images (takes twice as long).• 1x/2x/4x: This plays recorded images at original speed, double speed and

four-times the speed (respectively) of original recorded images.• All: Every frame is played without skipping any frame at the maximum

network transmission speed.

For example, selecting ‘2x’ for playing image recorded for 1 minute, the entireclip is played in 30 seconds. If Network transmission speed is slow andCamViewer II can’t keep the speed, it may skip image frames.

Note on Playback speed of NetCam-DVR (version I)

If data recorded on a NetCam-DVR version I is played back on a NetCam-DVRII, always select play speed ‘All’. This is because a version I NetCam-DVRrecords and indexes data based on frame number and not on data and time. Thesame is true for a back-up file.
